There's a woman here in Holland, MI who says God told her to reopen her salon, despite receiving the necessary funds to stay closed during Pandemic 2020. The locals (Dutch conservatives) are lapping it up and it's generated a small media circus.

So basically, it's nice to know Fundies use God as an excuse to do whatever the F they want.

Joking aside, if you came to Holland, I'd take you to my groups, such as Hope Church Pub Theology and Gender SAFE, maybe PFLAG too. You would explode walking into Grace Episcopal, even though we are a social justice minded church and our rector is a lesbian.

It's not schizo. It's actually smart. Look at Ken Ham and his "ark" nonsense. Said God told him to do it, it got a lot of people behind him, and he was able to convince the host city it would bring in money, and they actually let him do it. That takes brains. Also, this woman is not mentally ill. She knew it would align people to her cause and so far, there's $20K in her Go Fund Me.

Also, if you are calling this woman mentally ill, this should be required viewing for you. You know I go to church and I willingly take part in Communion. I feel led to stay in Holland and finish the fight for LGBT equality here. Does that make me mentally ill?

IMO, Nicea was a political convention at which they voted on a definition of nature of god, then took steps to ensure that their decision would survive as a belief system.

IMO, Nicea was a political convention at which they voted on a definition of nature of god, then took steps to ensure that their decision would survive as a belief system.

Not that there isn't a certain amount of elegance involved. And Turkey's beautiful.

I'm a Chalcedonian man myself.

The councils were all highly political conferences. They were battles between the regional centers of Christianity and its charismatic leaders over who would control it.

By the way, I remember it as "On the third day he rose again, in fulfillment of the Scriptures." That was how it was said in my Whore of Babylon church.

The Creed is a beautiful desiderata. I can't remember ever believing a word of it, even as a child, but it taught me to have an ethnologist's eye for my parents and helped me accept them even when I was a snotty teen, so bully for it.
