A little disappointed they went with Silver Knights, but that logo is awesome.

I am always a bit disappointed in how the NHL owned teams seem to just slap their name on the minor club and call it a day. Minor League Baseball did that for years, but have recently gotten away with that coming up with some real fun/creative team names and logos that better tie into the community.

Also, Providence isn't owned by the Bruins. They *chose* to use the parent club name.

Reading Royals in the ECHL are the same way (they were once tightly aligned with the Kings organization, not so anymore).

      The logo is great.

As far as the name, at least they didn't completely copy the parent team. Better than Iowa Wild or Providence Bruins.
Agreed. I would have preferred the Wild would have kept the Aeros name when they moved.

This is the first week in the Leafs' 102 year history that their season is still alive in June.

Wild fits better than Aeros for Iowa.

The Aeros logo was a bomber jet (and briefly, a clip art fighter jet), so the flying theme could have worked for Iowa.

Honest question: is there a special connection between Iowa and the history of flight? I mean other than the whole state being flat enough to be a runway?

Wild doesn't work for anywhere. It's the dumbest name in sports history and that is a very high bar.

Buddy Holly died in a plane crash in Iowa.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

No, although Rockwell Collins is big and Ames/Iowa State sends a lot of people to NASA.

We played a role in the Manhattan Project, though, maybe that's where he's going with the bomber thing? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ames_Project

No. I'm not even a real fan of the team but the name fits perfectly with the logo which fits in with Minnesota's wilderness.

Barnstorming/Crop Dusting. Quick logo change from a bomber jet to a small Cessna or an old bi-plane and it would have worked as the Iowa Aeros.

But... now that I think about it, I think whoever owned the Aeros retained the name/logo in case hockey comes back to Houston and just sold the AHL franchise to Minnesota. I don't remember Minnesota actually owning the Aeros.
