    • Fiala was a victim of the Suter/Parise buyouts, but we all saw that coming.

Welcome to the Wild youth (aka low cost) movement.

19 and 24 packaged won't get you high enough for a "can't miss".

Kris Kreider and Andrei Vasilevskiy were both taken a 19, but yeah, there have been a lot of misses at that spot too.

I still believe, however, that NHL teams are built on the first round of the draft, and maybe into the second. There are always the guys that seem to come out of nowhere, but they are still relatively rare. I'd keep the two picks. I like their chances of a hit with at least one of them.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Nope. We should use both picks so we have two shots at hitting a star. We can't move up far enough to get a sure thing.

                    • Last night I watched that Red Wings/Avalanche E60 documentary on ESPN. Did any of you guys watch it? It was really good. Claude Lemiuex was a real *****.

I haven't seen it yet, but heard from some other Wings fans that while good, it doesn't exactly cover the full extent of the rivalry. Sounds like it only goes through to the '98 or '99 season? If that's true it's a little surprising. 2002 still had plenty of action. It had a brawl, the Statue of Liberty goal and the 7-0 Game 7 was really the final chapter of the rivalry as each team faltered next season in the playoffs and then the lockout came.

Sure, Lemieux was gone, but the rivalry essentially begins with the Wings destroying Roy 11-1 in Montreal and sending him to Colorado, and ends with the 7-0 Game 7.

I haven't seen that show but I remember when Lemieux started with Montreal in the early 80's and it didn't take long for him to labeled a dirty player. I imagine they showed the cheap shot he put on Kris Draper.
