: - p, Okay. Well, then they have twelve wins; zero, zero-point losses; and two, one-point losses. : )

True most of this. I loved those Isles teams and for me they along with the Oilers were all that was good and holy about the NHL during that era. Bossy, Nystrom, Trottier, Gillies, Potvin, Goring, Tonelli and even Chico right? I might be missing some or mixing up some names but they had talent and they played a clean, hard, fast and effing fun to watch game.

I'm too young to appreciate any of Montreal's runs, so Oilers or Islanders? God damn I'd love an NHL '94 on Sega matchup of those teams.

Kepler you're lucky to have lived through that.

We may have a Seahawks problem.

Speaking of, hey Jim -- are the T-Birds going to continue after the Kraken start? I hope so, it would really suck to lose them in the W.

Also: we will be sharing a home rink this Spring in lovely Kent.
AFAIK the T-Birds have no intention of leaving, and neither do the SilverTips in Everett (that team name is lame as ****). I don’t see why they would either, they’ve got a pretty good arena deal (even if it’s in Kent) and have spent years building up a fan base on the South Sound.

The T-Birds and the Winterhawks sharing the same building? I’m sure that won’t be awkward...

Fine. The bottom line here is Bettman sucks harder than Manfred, and Manfred sucks.

I like them, but they kind of bum me out at the same time. Only possible change would be to make the play by play folks' job a little easier and go to green numbers.

Same here. I like them but eff me that should be the North Stars!! The change I would do is slightly thicken the piping around the numbers. I think that would do the trick.

                    • Tim Peel fired today after a hot mic incident yesterday caught him possibly showing bias against Nashville.

I get it and why he was relieved of duty. But I am also willing to bet that there was game management context here that will go unseen/unknown to everyone that has never put on a striped shirt.

On their face the comments should never have been made. But the mentality behind the comments are present at all levels of officiating. Its just that officials are under such a microscope, the 3 second lack of judgement will cost him his job.

Yeah, I can understand the situation and the use of game management in general (this stuff happens). But, there was only one penalty called before that one so it’s a bit dubious.

                          • I would have thought the Peel incident would have brought back some memories of Don Adam for JJ.

That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

He didn't get fired for that. He got fired for being dumb enough to say it in an age of panopticon surveillance.

Can you imagine what the refs thought of the Flyers in the mid 70s?

Technically that doesn't say he's fired, just that he won't be on the schedule any more. I read he's retiring at the end of the season anyway, so it's possible he'll get paid to sit at home for a month.
