I know a d-bag that has probably already blamed his death on getting vaccinated.

TBH, those are really the only three meaningful grassroots areas for hockey in the US. They're the only places hockey is in the culture. Everywhere else it's a marketing skingraft.

Crazy to me that you wouldn't have a womens league anchored in Boston, St. Paul, wherever white people live instead of Detroit, New York, and Chicago.
    Check out the Boston Pride.

So Boston's dream season has more reasons to just be a memory- David Krejci retired today. I think this was predicted earlier in this thread, but reality has it's presence.

Not really, IMO. Multiple factors to blame there, but youth and HS hockey culture in MI isn't as pathological as it is in MN. The fact that Michigan and Sparty have never made any moves to add women's hockey does not help, particularly when it has been rumored for years that the loudest internal opposition came from a certain retired head coach.

I'd love to see MTU to add a women's team, but we need a donor group to endow it. I think we might see more interest and movement on that front if at least one of the more well-heeled D1 schools in this state were to make the first move.

I’d agree. Gotta be up there for player enrollment too

So Fade, if either troll B1G school adds women’s hockey, do you see tech following along?

Once one does, the other will quickly follow and the B1G women’s hockey conference will form.

Karlsson to Pens, along with Pitlick. Didn’t see this coming as I thought dubas would want to start shifting younger than piling on more guys who are not in their prime

dumba to Arizona, they’ve certainly made some decent moves this summer

and women’s hockey- this new league is likely ending some careers a bit early. I have a family member that was in PHL after a very successful ncaa d1 career who is now likely done as she’s probably too old for the new league

the athletic had a article about where the six new teams will likely be located. Montreal and Toronto are locks, likely Boston too. There’s talk about keeping it all out east to lower costs but I can’t imagine a women’s league that leaves out what I think has to be the best women’s youth hockey/development location and volume (Minnesota). That was basically the argument from the athletic too- you almost can’t skip Minnesota so I feel like they probably will.
