No worries about the snark. (I even await the rustling of Keps feathers when someone calls the Islanders AHL.)
Nobody is more dismissive of the Islanders than Islander fans.

This is the thing about Mets fans (and presumably Jets fans, though somehow I dodged that bullet): we can never be insulted or slighted. You cannot hurt us. We live in the constant pain of the real; your taunts mean nothing.

Yes, there would be concerns, but Winnipeg seemed to hush "small arena" concerns when they presold three years of season tickets and then committed to upgrading / expanding seating a few years after they got the Thrashers.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that was the arrangement.
Winnipeg got the Thrashers because they a) had a suitable (though somewhat small) arena already built and b) an ownership ready to
      buy the team.

I’m sure the Jazz owner is willing to buy but they don’t have an arena. They’d essentially be taking the same problem they have with the Coyotes now but in a smaller market.

Houston and KC both have suitable arenas ready right now. Quebec City has an arena but there’s way too many issues with the conferences.

Quebec wouldn’t cause too many issues. Arizona/QC moves to the Atlantic, then probably Detroit gets shipped to the Central. Or you put them in the Metro and Columbus goes west, but Detroit already has history there.

As much as I didn’t enjoy the Wings in the West before, the new scheduling limits a lot of West Coast trips until the playoffs so there wouldn’t be too many 10pm faceoffs. Right now the Wings play 66 games in the eastern time zone. If they moved to the Central that would only be reduced to 56. More games in the central timezone, but 8pm puck drop isn’t terrible. And if my math is right the pacific time zone games only increase from 8 to 12.

Not sure the organization would be happy about losing games with Toronto or Montreal, or going back to 10pm playoff games, but they’ve squandered the chance for 7pm games for nearly a decade now.

Detroit and Columbus fought kicking and screaming in the last realignment to be placed in the East, they’re not going back. In fact, I’d bet the Wings would likely go to court to prevent it. And the Western Conference teams aren’t going to play Quebec.

Look, I get people really want the Nordiques back but it’s not happening as long as there are interested parties in other cities.

              • Well, the NHL and the Coyotes are saying they’re playing in Arizona next season so I guess the relocation talk can cool for a bit.

They have at least two more years to make a decision because their lease ran three years with a fourth year option, so the NHL could delay until 2026 if they wanted.

IIRC, they won the Presidents Trophy last year. I think teams like the Aves, Lightning and Washington have all recently won the cup after being the best team in the league the prior year. Not saying they’ll win, but it also shouldn’t be a surprise.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

No new Gov election until 2026. They are the victims of De Santis' skull-f-ckingly stupid posturing until then.

Oh. You meant the other FL.

I am reduced to rooting for Vegas. Woof.

After tonight I think the Panthers are a team of destiny so they're probably done in 6.
