  • In the simplest of terms you have 2 sides that don't feel safe, and have lived that way for decades which permeates a person's fiber as generation after generation grows up in that milieu. Until these fears can be quelled to a much greater degree nothing is going to change. It's time for the global community to slap them both with significant economic sanctions and a message of, "Figure it out or **** off".

Ah, yes. The “figure out how to share the toy or it’s mine” approach. I distinctly remember discussing that it high school- in the ‘80s.
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

I mean, this section of land has more or less been contested among a few different parties for the last 2500 years or so give or take a few years. There really isn't going to be a miracle answer here. It's basically an area where someone will ALWAYS contest it.

            • The problem is genocide fell out of fashion. Seriously. That is the way Iron Age civilizations like the Israelis and Arabs solve their problems. Two men enter, one man leaves.

The only reason any of these peoples even exists is it murdered every prior playoff opponent down to literal extinction. The Old Testament is an instruction manual for how it's done.

The survivor is, by definition, Chosen. Divine Mandate, baby.

Swallow the whistle. Worst case: there's only one left to deal with.

              Best case: they tie.

                        • We should probably decapitate the Russian regime before it's too late, but credit where it's due: this is first class trolling.

A visit to a Lithuanian airbase by Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda was all set to include the two leaders speaking to the press in front of a Spanish Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon jet, deployed to the country on a rotational NATO air policing mission. However, in an impromptu demonstration of the air alert facility’s readiness, Nauseda had to break off his address as the jet was prepared to scramble to intercept Russian aircraft approaching NATO’s Baltic territories.
And this is a nice "No Sh-t" touch:

El Pais reported that unnamed military sources “assume that Russia intentionally raised the alert for the visit of the Spanish leader,” especially since there had been no previous such incidents in the previous 18 days. “Alliance sources believe that it is not by chance that [the alert] occurred during the appearance of Sanchez and the Lithuanian president,” the newspaper added.

                            • It's funny to me how the conservatives have all done a 180 on the Afghan pull out in an attempt to tag Biden with the old "he lost China" canard.

How many Americans do they think actually give a single jot or tittle about the Forever War?

Biden should stop the bombings everywhere while he's at it. Since the Echo Chambers will now trumpet "CAPITULATION!!!" let's really do it. Let's roll up the empire and bring the boys home from everywhere we don't have a specific defensive alliance like NATO or ANZUS.
