One in probably 10 "tire kickers" was an IL resident who was shocked to see that this was required. Before showing the firearm, we would ask where the customer lived. We would also work the fact that an IL FOID card was required into ALL sales conversations. Basically as a seller, it was to cover my own *** with this stuff. Many sales people were much more lax with this stuff as they felt that it was "up to the customer to know".
There was a ton of misconceptions about what people thought the rules were vs what they actually were. And that is the biggest issue with the 2nd Amendment...
