What would be the point of voting for it? It can't be part of the bill in Reconciliation anyways. It is stupid grandstanding that does nothing but put Senators on the spot.

They have cover since it can't pass and wouldn't pass and can now argue they aren't hardlined like the Trumpers are. Honestly I support the $15 and if I had an election coming up (and I wasnt a lock) I probably consider voting against it too. It doesn't belong in the package and the Parliamentarian nuked it anyways. Biden is against overruling so this is all just stupid...

Pass the bill without it and get this going. Stop stalling over the minimum wage.

    • I’m guessing some voted against it due to the parliamentarian ruling. However, I don’t think they voted it down with the excitement that Sinema did...

      • Yeah Progressive Twitter is just all over that like it friggin matters. They aren't arguing on merit they are just shaming...some of them are just Trumpers from the other side of the spectrum. (looking at you Shaun King you clickbait piece of chit)

On another note here is a point by point destruction of the GOP talking points: https://twitter.com/ChrisMurphyCT/st...91857120145409

Like I’ve said before: troll, or moron. I thought moron at first, but now I’m leaning towards troll. Either way, I look forward to reading this website after work to see what stupid **** he comes up with next, along with Jeb2020. His stuff makes me laugh, and his critiques of posters on this board are sometimes spot-on, unlike everything else he posts.
As for the vote, not surprising. Shaheen makes the least sense to me, but I just read an article in some Boston newspaper where she explained her rationale, along with Hassan explaining hers. I think if Sununu challenges Hassan, it’ll be the closest Senate race of 2022, save maybe Pa or Wi. New Hampshire is swingy and purple.

                • Little by little, we muddle through, despite the terrorism of the Nazis.

This will be a step forward. It's not everything, but it's governance, which is compromise. The Republicans did everything in their power to rip up the tracks so we couldn't get help to people, but they failed. **** them and their apologists.

We can only move by inches because one major party is completely owned by Plute scumbags who don't care about anyone but themselves, and hoodwinked spiteful, racist morons who will suffer as long as others suffer more.

It's a miracle we can pass anything in a country in which the worst among us have so much power, but we can and will. And every day demographically these stupid ****s are dying. These days, funnily enough, by their own hand.

Hell my dad called me last night confused by what was happening so it isnt like you are alone. The truth is people are so used to the iron fist of McConnell who just forced everything through with minimal debate or fight that they forgot what this is all supposed to look like. Its why we mock "Dems in Disarray!!1!1". The Progressive Wing and the Centrist Wing SHOULD duke it out. Groupthink is dangerous...as we are seeing on the other side who now can't excise Trump even if they want to.

The roadmap to getting everything you want isn't by everyone thinking the same. The roadmap is open debate and discourse. The Progressive Wing (and the House) pushing for $15 minimum wage in the bill until it was deemed not to be legit by the Parliamentarian is perfection. It was never going to work because Joey Man-Chin and Sinema were going to vote against it but this is probably the longest and deepest conversation that has been had in public over the idea in quite some time. There has been polling done, there has been studies released, it is now part of the national discourse. It has turned from "Leftist Anti-Business Take" to "Populist Ideal" in the course of a month. Some businesses are setting out to PROVE it can work all on their own just to show how much they "care" (hah!) about their workers. Sooner or later it will happen...

The Dems have finally started playing the game. They have taken something they believe in and turned it into a wedge issue. When the debates for the Midterms start they are going to hammer home the idea of $15 because the people support it. Hold the House, get the Senate to 52 and let the games begin. The Dems need to stop worrying about what the GOP says and just keep giving the people what they want. Everyone loves socialism when they are the ones benefitting.

You don’t offend me. You’re just disingenuous. You can argue that the Dems are screwing up, doing this wrong, doing that wrong, etc., until Trump’s infrastructure week happens. I’ll keep coming back here regardless of what you post. But I won’t ever take you seriously. Either you are capable of making the connection that Democrats, especially Senate ones, are hamstrung because of voters like you, or you’re not. If you are, you’re a troll. If you’re not, you’re a moron. If other people disagree, that’s cool. We’ll both keep posting on here and enjoying the board.

Your last sentence is the truth. Keep passing bills that directly help people in need. Democrats will do more for the American public in the first three months of Biden’s administration than the GOP in Trump’s four years. Obvious statement is obvious, but keep hammering that sh-t home.
sidenote: I’m sad they already fixed the apparent bug where swear words were allowed in their entirety.

                              • I don’t think Sinema would be getting the heat if she would explain her vote. If it’s due to the ruling of the parliamentarian, that’s fine.

Instead, she’s on record as of six years ago saying the minimum wage needs to increase, decided to pull out McCain thumbs down theatrics over something that would benefit people, and her only messaging regarding the bill the last two days is that she brought chocolate cake for staffers working late.
