Personally, I think Sinema is more frustrating to me than Manchin, but I digress. I think Manchin would absolutely support some version of a Voting Rights Act- a watered down version, to be sure- but a much stronger one than Susan Collins would support. Or Ben Sasse, who is probably in the top 5 for most conservative senators, his weak sh-t opposition to Trump when it didn’t matter much anymore notwithstanding. Democrats have a big f-cking tent with lots of f-cking hands in the pot, and it’s hard to satisfy all of them, which is why we fracture as a party much more than the GOP, which clearly has a singular focus and a mainly singular type of voter demographic. It has nothing to do with not having any balls, or some explanation like that I’ve seen on here.
I think Sinema is likelier to change which is why I am easing off criticizing her for now. I think if she gets re-elected she will shift enough to the Left to be less problematic.

Honestly I would ignore Manchin completely if we had 51 instead of 50 because he would be worthless. He could vote stupidly and we could still win. Right now I trust Sinema to play the game correctly which I never do with Manchin.

Hell his own Governor seems to support the Biden bill stronger than he does...

1>0 but not by that much. You are only as strong as your weakest link and he is about as weak a link as you can get.

He is also not good at playing the game at all. He never got the value of keeping your cards close to the vest. He folds before anyone bets...

I am not going to turn down the heat on his moronic ideas just because he has a D behind his name.
Way too much credit? He’s a sh-tty Democrat. That said, I think he supports Biden’s bill just fine. He voted to advance the process of passing it via budget reconciliation. If he hated the bill, he could have tanked it right then and there by voting against the reconciliation process, and suggested $600 billion from our best and brightest GOP Senators was the way to go. But, he didn’t. He could have said he was completely against a minimum wage increase tied to a budget reconciliation bill like Sinema, but he hasn’t. Now, if Bernie is wrong about the Parliamentarian ruling in Dems’ favor, Manchin may completely oppose the idea then. Sinema is the one who played her cards too soon on that front, not Manchin. He opposes Neera Tanden, who, frankly, I can’t stand either, but he’s been fine with everyone else so far. He’s a sh-tty Democrat, but he’s who we’ve got. Flame away since it’s a message board and I enjoy the discussion, but my goodness, it’s like some of y’all have forgotten to be thankful we recaptured a trifecta in the first place to even be having these discussions about making progressive progress vs incremental progress vs return to the Stone Ages.

Of course she’s likelier to change, because she has the constituency that gives her breathing room to change. You’ve been saying that for months, and I agree with you. Right now though, she’s frustrating, for me at least. Manchin’s constituency makes McConnell’s look like Schumer’s, and he still voted around the same as Sinema for “Trump’s” policies. I would LOVE for Manchin to be irrelevant, but Maine had to re-elect Collins, and Cunningham in NC had his mind on getting his willie wet from someone other than his wife.

You're probably too young. When I was young(er) and dinosaurs roamed the Earth and Dr. Mrs. was on the Hill on Senate staff, staffers used to circulate extremely private, extremely funny, extremely honest reviews of their own Members. There were lists like "hottest Senate staffers" and "Member you would not be surprised had an expunged record for petty crime as a juvenile."

One list was "Dumbest Senator, own party." Staffers couldn't just pile on the other party, they had to give an honest assessment of who was the biggest rockhead on their own side. Jim Inhofe won a close race for R. Patty Murray won in a landslide for D and it was rumored her own staff voted for her.

This was before Nazis. Nobody does anything like that anymore.

Oh don't get me wrong...her stances tick me off. I just think if she was the swing vote instead of Manchin I would feel better about it. Sadly we won't know...I might be giving her too much credit as well.
