      Ira Shapiro knows more about how the Senate works than almost anybody. His perspective here offers Manchin a way out of the corner he's painted himself into-if he wants one, which is very much not clear.

      Ira Shapiro, former counsel to Robert Byrd, tells me that if Manchin supported lowering the filibuster threshold to 55, it would be consistent with Byrd's legacy. Byrd backed lowering it from 67 to 60. This would be consistent with Manchin's principles:

            So dems will get nothing done this term because they refuse to do whats needed.

              What could the Dems other than Manchin and Sinema do that they are not doing?

                      Last I read there have been 600 arrests. Who isn't being arrested by whom and why?

                              But that's the point. 49% of our government is Nazi. What do we do, now, before they steal 2022 and 2024 and end democracy?

                              You have guys like Hovey, joe, and Sic who are sitting on their hands tut tutting about our "delusions" while they do it. They will excuse it even after it has happened -- for REASONS -- if history is any judge. They're no help. Even if they don't pull any triggers they will turn away when others do.

                              What can we do, right now, to stop what we know from history will happen? We are staring down the barrel of fascism and all that comes with it: looting of the public treasury, censorship, suspension of elections, the end of civil rights and liberties, then war and, finally, genocide. What do we do, today, to stop them before they do what they are neurobiologically hardwired to do?

                              We're fighting actual Nazis. This is not a dress rehearsal.
