Yeah if Manchin doesn't back ending the filibuster now he might as well reclassify as Independent because any chance he has of getting anything he wants is DOA. Mitch is trolling and doing and doing a bad job of it this time...

I think Manchin has said he is not in favor of getting rid of the filibuster, even though doing so would put him in a pretty good negotiating position.
The other thing is this. I don't know that the 50 Dems are on board with getting rid of it. Unlike the general public, Senators understand that things change, and while one day you may be in the majority, nothing is forever. That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Last report was only a few were against it Manchin being one of them and that is fine. If Mitch is going to screw with committees though when he is in the minority they either to all get on board or reap the world reap the world wind. Mitch doesn't get to pull crap just cause it is 50/50.
Problem being I don't think Schumer has the balls to do anything..."It's as if the Drumpf Administration is made up of the worst and unfunny parts of the Cleveland Browns, Washington Generals, and the alien Mon-Stars from Space Jam."

At the same time, Schumer knows we will get nothing done with the filibuster still in place because of the legislative terrorism of the Right. Mitch will destroy the country rather than give up an inch of power or lessen the profits of those who bribe him. The filibuster has to go.
So Manchin has his nuts in a vise. He has to pander to his state's Nazis, but he is useless to the Dems (and the country) if he does. Manchin needs an out. He needs an excuse so he can say, "I'm shocked that the Republicans care more about their power than the country!" And Mitch's overreach gives him that out.
That is why either this is a blunder by Mitch or it indicates that Manchin has all but officially switched to the Nazis to save his sorry wrinkled old behind.Last edited by Kepler; 01-21-2021, 04:27 PM.Cornell University

So, wait, Nazi Turtle is filibustering the conference assignment, takeover?
So, basically he is going to do that for everything then. He's going to turn Biden's Presidency into Obama 2. Then the Dems will change the filibuster if they can. And then the Nazi's will take back the Senate and blame everything they do on Democrats not following the rules.
Someone needs to find a way to break the pattern.**NOTE: The misleading post above was brought to you by Reynold's Wrap and American Steeples, makers of Crosses.

What part of "Nazi" do people not understand? I don't use the term loosely. These people have told us exactly who they are. They are not to be engaged with except by rolling over them with every legal means we have. There is no small 'd' democratic opposition left our country. We have Democrats on one side and authoritarians on the other.
We need to end the Right.

What Mitch is doing is saying not Manchin but HE must agree to everything that passes. And that's just not how a minority works. He doesn't get to make that call. Mitch is holding the whole US hostage to the entitled, clueless, evil f-cktards who bribe him. That's why we have to nuke him and his terrorists.
Y'all did this to yourselves. So, do what you do best: win back the Senate while losing the net vote by 10 million. If you ever get the House Mitch will end the filibuster in an instant.

Nazi Rand Paul got his little feelings hurt by the Inauguration Speech yesterday.
"If you read his speech and listen to it carefully, much of it is thinly-veiled innuendo calling us white supremacists, calling us racists, calling us every name in the book, calling us people who don't tell the truth," Rand Paul said on Fox News Primetime.
Poor little Nazi.**NOTE: The misleading post above was brought to you by Reynold's Wrap and American Steeples, makers of Crosses.
