  • The dudes on the soccer show on XM this a.m. were bemoaning how most of the US players are idle going into the WC. Pulisic isn't getting minutes and the others are on MLS squads that potted out. Does anybody think this matters? And why isn't Pulisic playing? Lingering injuries or just not good enough?

Bad club situation. He’s good enough but the manager just doesn’t like him.

The MLS players being out of the playoffs isn’t necessarily a bad thing, rest isn’t a terrible idea, and they have a camp starting soon anyway.

      Which show was it?

SiriusXM FC, the dude who used to do the morning show with Georgio Chinaglia. I think he might actually own the station -- he seems like a used car salesman. This guy.

Stillitano? Lol ok, that explains a lot.

Charlie Stillitano is the head of Relevant Sports, the company that promotes those International Champions Cup friendlies (aka pay us thousands to watch Euro teams half try against each other) and the company that’s sued (and failed) the USSF multiple times because the USSF won’t let Relevant host La Liga matches in the US.

He has always struck me as PT Barnum. His show with Chinaglia was awesome because Georgio was nigh on The Most Interesting Man in the World. But otherwise, Charlie always seems like a cross between a panderer and a seedy salesman in Glengary Glen Ross.

              • Women’s World Cup draw was (very) earlier this morning.

US drawn into Group E with the Netherlands, Vietnam, and the winner of Playoff Group A (either Portugal, Cameroon, or Thailand). The US and the Netherlands of course played in the final last time but, with Australia and New Zealand cohosting, the Dutch (ranked 8th) got dropped to Pot 2.

And if you thought the USA v Thailand blowout last time was bad, prepare for more of those this time around! Spain and Japan versus 81st ranked Zambia should be fun in Group C. France and Brazil versus the Playoff Group C winners (Paraguay, Papua New Guinea, Taiwan, or Panama) should be good too.

For all the crap the USSF gets, and they usually deserve it, they’re one of the better run FAs in the world.

None of that thread on the CSA surprises me (and I might be working with them in a few months).

                    • Preliminary plans for MLS on Apple TV are out.

Big thing is the move to consistent windows on Saturdays and Wednesdays. All matches are planned to kick off at 7:30 local. Apple wants to have a big pregame show into a 5-6 hour whiparound show followed by a postgame show.

Really looking forward to seeing a broadcaster actually do this seriously for once (even if MLS is handling the production themselves).

                          • Brighton spanks Chelsea 4-1 after going winless(2 draws)in their last 5 matches. Early in the first half the announcer says BHA hasn't scored off a corner all year. 2 minutes later they did with a little help after the ball bounced in off a Chelsea player.

Seattle: Injuries and fatigue from CCL and multiple playoff runs, lost too many close games.
                              Vancouver: Because they suck.
Portland: Lost games against playoff contenders.

The Fulham-Everton match was some of the most splendid soccer I've ever seen. Mitrovic vs Tarkowski was wildly entertaining.
