RFK was a de facto national stadium, wasn't it? But that's getting demolished soon so it's a moot point.

The US has too many population centers spread around the country to have a specific home stadium for soccer.

Yeah, that was my point earlier. It makes no sense for the US to have a National Stadium.

Yeah, that was a crazy half of soccer.

Unsurprisingly, Honduras beat Grenada 4-0 in the late game.

And, given that there was a delay with over an inch and a half rain, the field in Houston held up really well.

So El Salvador seems to have restricted the ability for their soccer team to have crowds for their World Cup Qualifying games in September.

So they’re looking at playing in the DC area instead.

Yes, this includes a matchup against the US, which seems not great for El Salvador. Yeah, DC has a huge Salvadorian population so they’ll get huge friendly crowd but it still negates a lot of the home advantage. The US now doesn’t have to travel far, they don’t have to stay in a hostile environment, and the field conditions will be adequate. I guess the allure of a huge payday is more than the advantage of just playing in the home country.

So many people going nuts that the referee ended the first half early…

Apparently none of them noticed the TV clock stopped during Martinique’s free kick, and somehow think a referee would try ending a half early during a confederation tournament, and that neither side would complain on the field if that were to actually happen.

Because announcers are the dumbest people about the LOTG. Even Martin Tyler and Efan Ekoku couldn’t get a basic offside call right.
