There's a new world record for attendance at a women's soccer match: 91,553 at Barcelona v Real Madrid in the UEFA Women's Champions League

(Barcelona Femeni won 5-2, 8-3 on aggregate. They've yet to lose or draw a match in all competitions this season.)

This record has now been bettered by Barcelona Femeni after 91,648 showed up for their semifinal leg against Wolfsburg. Barcelona won 5-1. They’ve yet to even draw a match this season and the only match they lost was a preseason match against Lyon in Portland (Lyon is in the other semifinal BTW).

JFC League One is the graveyard of the Premier League. Look at all these former PL teams, some in the last decade:

BTW, did Celtic or the other one (Rangers?), whichever went t-ts up, make a comeback? I remember when that happened people like me were moaning that it had destroyed Scottish footie forever.

You might be thinking of Wigan, they went into administration last year which got them relegated to League One though they got bought by some Bahraini businessman and are now ok. Or Bury who did get expelled from the EFL back in 2020 and are basically dead.

TBF, Portsmouth have been dealing with financial difficulties for over a decade (they’re one of the many examples of clubs going into financial ruin trying to compete in the PL) though seem to be stable now that they’re owned by Michael Eisner of all people.

Rangers are back in the SPL and even won it last year. TBF, Scottish football has been ruined since the 80’s.

Also, I’d say it’s 50/50 that Everton joins the Leeds/Portsmouth/Wigan “financial oblivion” club in a year or two.
