Steffen has been pretty iffy the last few months, he's pretty rusty from rarely having any playing time.

It's not looking much better for the World Cup with Steffen and Horvath riding the pine in England and Turner likely riding the pine at Arsenal by the fall. They need to start looking at other options like Slonina from Chicago or (and yes I understand this is a homer pick) Frei from Seattle.

I'm, an Islanders fan who doesn't hate the Rangers, a Mets fan who doesn't hate the Yankees, and a Cornell fan who roots for every ECAC team in the NC$$s. There is clearly something wrong with me; I missed the "hate your arch rival" gene.

The only soccer team I truly hate is the Mexican National Team. There are a few others that are close. I grew up a Man City fan, so I really dislike Man United (although, not really a diehard Man City fan since they found a money machine). I really dislike Neymar, but not to the level of hate. For MLS, I follow the Rapids...but their biggest rival is Kroenke Sports. So... : )

So Billy Corben, not that one, the one who made Cocaine Cowboys, has a mini-doc out about David Beckham and Inter Miami’s stadium proposal and how it’s using public money to destroy important park land and it’s the “worst deal ever for Miami!”

Of course, the actual truth is no public money is being used and Inter Miami is paying $3.7 million a year in rent (on land appraised at $2.2 million). The “park land” that needs to be saved? It’s a golf course run by a private entity.

Dumb rules question- if a goal shooter is fouled after he shoots and the ball goes in, does anything count as a foul?

Watching Liverpool at ManU, and there was a really pretty goal, but the defender basically took the shooter down after he shot the ball. I've seen that yellow cards have been given for similar tackles. Of course, you can't award a free kick- the ball is in the net (advantage played). But can the defender be given a yellow card for that?

A caution can be given for something that advantage was applied on but it’d have to be for something considered reckless which the tackle you’re asking about wasn’t really reckless, at least at the professional level. If the player didn’t score then yeah it would’ve been a caution for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity in the penalty area while making an attempt to play the ball (and a penalty kick).

You can go back and give a card for a foul after you've let play go for an advantage call.

Most MLS teams advanced, 13 of 17 to be exact, Detroit City beat Columbus, Omaha beat Chicago, San Antonio beat Austin, and Northern Colorado beat Salt Lake.

USL Championship teams, the purported second division, went 5-10 this last round compared to USL League One’s 4-4. Yikes.
