FIFA changes format for Intercontinental Playoffs.

Instead of home and home legs they’ll now be single games at a neutral site.

A one game playoff for a spot in the World Cup. Yikes.

Pretty much just jumping ahead towards the 2026 format: 6 teams (one team from each Confederation and an extra from the host Confederation) playing off to two spots.

Canada’s decision to play outdoors in the East, rather than indoors in Vancouver, prompted the USSF to turn its attention to the Midwest rather than the West. I do love the fact that most of the vocal complainers about St. Paul are a lot of the same people who complain about MLS “not being on the international calendar”.
