  • Just had to post this video clip here.

From the world Cycling Championships in Imola, Italy. Circuit race, the women did five laps, the men seven, and each lap the helicopter would film this sequence of the riders along the ridgeline between the top of one of the climbs, before the descent began. Every time, the announcers would comment, "this never gets old". And it didn't. Like riding in front of a painting, or some sort of computer simulation. Gorgeous country.

Before I die, I need to take my two road bikes to Italy, and ride them on the roads of the country of their birth.

          You imagine incorrectly.

My bikes were born of the hands of Antonio and Mauro Mondonico, in their shop in the garage of Antonio's house outside Milan.

Made of Columbus steel of Italy.

Imola is beautiful until you remember how many drivers have died at that track.
