As for your choice, I’m much better off now than I was in 2020, and I’m a working-class person living, by choice, in Kentucky. My dad tried convincing me a while back that all of Portland is on fire. I have friends that live in urban Portland as well as the suburbs, all of whom don't live in rubble. So Chicago has an aging set of old Gen-X/Boomers who have lived within the city their entire lives but somehow are super Conservative. And they buy into the whole "Chi-raq" bit.
