You can't argue both sides of the same problem and pretend that people should take you seriously. This is exactly why you get panned constantly.

We are NOT there, not even close. You have to PAY for every single approved ID required for voting, which is a poll tax. So if you REALLY want a free ID for voters, you should write you state representatives. Right now, that's a state requirement, and thus a state ID. I'm quite sure that states will cry foul if there's a free federal voter ID card- since it's their responsibility for voter rolls.

    THIS.

    100% on point.

I'd also like to add that the continues cuts in hours and locations for states residents to get said ID/registered to vote also is a bottleneck. Why is the GOP making it *harder* for people to vote? Oh... right...

Yeah the stats on Oregon's absentee ballot system is mind boggling. As I said a few days ago there is a better chance you catch massive fraud in a Middle School election than in any of the elections in states with absentee. It never happens.

    Sicatoka,

First off, thank you for answering honestly.

Second, I think you made the point many of us have been making since all of this started even though it is obvious it wasn't what you meant. There isn't, and there never was, any there there. In all of the states where the election was within the margins there was the mandatory audits and checks. There was no irregularities in GA or AZ (or MI, WI, PA...etc.) so that part is bunk, the audits happened because that was how the system is set up when things are close. It had zero to do with claims or veracity it had to do with procedure. If Trump and his ilk had shut up and said nothing except that they requested an audit cause it was within the margin it was happening no matter what Kemp or anyone said in GA. (or the SOS in AZ also I believe) Remember the GOP ran that election so it wasn't like they were looking to take him down...I believe they were all on record as voting for him. The problem was there was nothing to see, the election ran like it was set up to and the safeguards in place double and triple checked it on the local and statewide level. Any and all irregularities were found to be just normal statistical anomalies. No cheating, no dead voting (except a few GOPers who tried it) and nothing outside the margin for error when it comes to the number of people who actually voted.

And see if this was any other election and Trump was anyone but a complete and total narcissist who had no idea what the country or his office stood for it would have died right there. There was no path to victory, there was no hidden cache of votes, no weird shenanigans, no outside interference, just that the GOP lost because people were tired of him. (and in GA Abrams got rural Black voters to the polls in numbers unseen before...all legally) That was why they gained seats in the House and statewide seats well, just not him. He couldn't handle that, and the GOP is too spineless to fight him on it so they backed the BS about Dominion Voting Machines and Chinese ballots and so on...and their voters ate it up because thinking is not something they do. I mean literally how it broke down was predicted weeks in advance and it still wasn't something they understood. States like PA and GA (not to mention FL and OH the other way...funny they never bring that up) had their counting set up so that absentees were counted later. Trump had been telling his people not to use it while the Dems were saying "be safe vote early if you can". Trump won in person, Biden crushed in absentee. (which is not the conventional wisdom pre-COVID) Hell when it was looking horrid Tuesday Night all it took was looking at the numbers of absentee ballots outstanding and where they were from to know Trump was screwed. That is why he gave that stupid speech at 1am or whatever saying he was robbed...his people were telling him he didn't have the numbers. (also they were telling him not to say he was screwed...his idiot spawn pushed him to do that) PA was all but a guaranteed loss by Wednesday at noon and GA was trending that way as well. Even the pundits that were playing it safe (like King on CNN) were showing that Trump would need to vastly overperform in Dem areas like Atlanta, Detroit, Philly and Pittsburgh to have a shot to hold the Anti-Hillary wall. I believe dx on here had an Excel sheet that was showing the breakdown and it was never showing well for Trump once the absentees started being counted. Nate Silver and the NY Times were fighting each other over it because the Times algorithm was completely flawed. Silver, and some of the "Liberal Media Pundits" had it called correctly. (actually Silver warned it could go this way the night BEFORE the election...almost to a T including the House and Senate) I cant remember which one of the more reputable Election watchers was giving twitter updates but they nailed the final percentage in each of those states based on the absentees days in advance and then did the same in the runoff 12 hours before anyone else called it. Amazing how math and demographics work...

And see the dumbest part of all of this is that this was completely predictable. Not just Trump not accepting the loss, but how it was going to play out overall. The same thing happened in the WI Governors election the previous cycle. The GOP spent the whole night celebrating because Walker was in the lead and holding strong but kept ignoring the fact that there was a bunch of votes from Milwaukee and other Dem strongholds that were outstanding. Hell most of the pundits were ignoring it too since Walker was the incumbent and expected to win. Kornacki on MSNBC kept referencing it though and said that quietly the Dems were getting real confident and the GOP sources he had were worried. Then, about 1am or so (may have been later I stayed up and watched all of it cause it was a rollercoaster and sites like the NYTimes were updating in real time!) he said that they finished the count and the results were on a flash drive that was about to inputted into the system. The non-TV pundits had it almost flip flopping it was so close. MSNBC was live at the GOP party and accidentally caught them when they were finding out what was happening. The music stopped and everyone looked like they knew the inevitable was coming. A few minutes later Walker lost the lead for good.

The problem wasn't irregularities, or shady things of any kind. The problem was it went exactly how it was supposed to and he knew it. His numbers had been crap forever, his polling was mediocre at best. He had lost the suburbs in the Midterms and Biden appealed to the Independents that went his way against Hillary. His rallies that supposedly showed how great he was, they were bussing people in whenever they could after the disaster that was Tulsa. His getting COVID and infecting half the WH was pretty much the death knell. He ended up overperforming his polling (polling just will never be reliable when it comes to Cult of Personality types like him) but he lost the former Blue States just like he was expected to. That was why he was whining about cheating...not because of changes in the absentee system. (changes btw often put in place by his own party like in PA, GA...etc.) He knew he wasn't likely to win so he muddied the water before hand so when he lost he could say he was screwed. He then parlays that into a Faux News gig or buying OANN and cashes in. He wasn't expecting that 3/4 of his party would buy it and lie about it leading to an attack on the Capitol. That is what happens when your party is run by the Spineless (McCarthy/Graham) the Stupid (MTG/Boebert/Gaetz) and the Evil. (Hawley/Zodiac/Gym Jordan) Now it will take a generation to undue the damage, if you even can. Considering they still have issues admitting Trump lost fairly we might be past the point of no return with the GOP. (in the best light)

tl;dr: When the foundation you are basing your actions on is crap (using The Big Lie to pass suppression laws) you have no standing and you are just wrong.

OR too except no in-person. For twenty years; no problems.

They started doing that in CA too last year. Worked great, preferred the dropoff myself.
