they're forcing therapists and mental health advocates to essentially become babysitters for people infected with COVID since beds in traditional covid units are full and they don't have a place to put these people. They think that four pages of PPE instructions is sufficient to train someone to handle a highly contagious disease. This is ****ing madness.

Thankfully we have been in a position where we could keep the kids reasonably well engaged through all of this. We were in a position to buy them each their own Chromebook to use in remote learning, have reliable high-speed internet, stay home a lot of the time and help them with their online classes when they were fully remote and hybrid etc etc

I know there are thousands of kids out there in very different and less fortunate situations - kids who had to rely on a school issued Chromebook (and often times only one per family not per student - or even didn't get one at all), didn't have good internet or even internet at all, had to be left home alone all day etc etc.

The failure to find a way to keep kids in school (or at least well engaged with school) through all of this will without a doubt go down as one of the greatest public health failures of our lifetimes.

          • If they had just used the time to upgrade the ventilation at many of these schools and then certain Nut Jobs not fought the mask mandates and vax requirements we would not be here. Instead half the country showed they value education even less than previously thought. Teacher burnout was at all time highs prior to the Pandemic and now we are on the precipice of a full on collapse of public education. Because a bunch of ****ing morons are too stupid to understand 3rd grade science.

You ****wits better pray God doesn't exist because gullible twats like you ain't going to heaven no matter how much you prayed.

Combine the movement to for profit money laundering to get healthcare to the movement to profit on public education, yea.... This is exactly what R's have been wanting for decades. Not a pretty sight.

Some things are better with a little bit of socialism spiced in them. Defense, roads, education, healthcare.....

                        • Quick update: My test came back negative however, my wife's test results still haven't come back yet so my results are pretty useless. Especially considering how crappy I've been feeling the last 24 hours.

                              • "So, here's my plan."

She had wanted to catch Covid so there would be fewer restrictions on her movement, Mr Rek explained.

Two days before she died, she wrote on social media that she was recovering: "Now there will be theatre, sauna, a concert". On Sunday morning, the day she died, Ms Horka said she was feeling better and dressed to go for a walk. But then her back started hurting, so she went to lie down in her bedroom. "In about 10 minutes it was all over," her son said. "She choked to death".

Although she was unvaccinated, Jan Rek stressed that his mother did not believe in some of the more bizarre conspiracy theories about Covid vaccines. "Her philosophy was that she was more OK with the idea of catching Covid than getting vaccinated. Not that we would get microchipped or anything like that," he said.

There was no point in trying to discuss the issue with her as it would just get too emotional, he added. Instead, he hoped that by telling his story he could convince others to get vaccinated.
Get. Vaccinated. Even if you do test positive, you will weather the storm.
