They saw the sacrifice of over a half million Americans as worth it if they could have seen an actual, successful insurrection. They almost got their wish.
All the nopes. We do not have wealth or technical capabilities at our disposal. They are in the hands of those who need to make a profit and are only used if there is a way to make one.

BBC has been running multiple stories about India- reporters going out to the crematoriums and reporting that the numbers from the Govt are not even close to what the Crematoriums are reporting. Running out of O2, beds, vaccine impossible to access- appts made are being cancelled d/t lack of product. India's economy needs a cash infusion. Maybe we should send the impervious like jeb for a vacation to see the Taj Mahal? It is a beautiful place.

Seems like there will be pockets of safety and pockets of stupidity. I wonder if that will affect travel and tourism. They are saying that many people are still quite willing to be cautious and it isn't hard to find out vaccination and infection rates. I wouldn't go near Deathsantos State or any of the places where they are actively working to keep things unsafe.

As I've mentioned before, that factor will certainly affect our tourism. Highly unlikely we will go to Florida anytime soon for our normal vacations- especially if the ships decide to cave on Dumsantos' anti vax requirement. I see a lot of people on the cruise boards would would just want to require passengers to be 100% vaccinated, and with the kids soon to be added to that list- getting to the 95% passenger vax rate seems pretty possible later this summer.

Right now, the only places we would sail from would be New York or Puerto Rico- both of which are taking their proper time to be ready.

edit- one thing to add- this less about us being safe, and more about the idiots that Florida elected to run the state. We can take our tourist dollars someplace else. He can still change the path, but I don't see that happening.

No one cares where you are going to set sail from. Just like no one cares when narcissists post a vaccine or mask selfie.

Florida will be fine as people have flocked there over the last 6 months.

Maybe you can set sail out of a Covid Restriction paradise like CA. You know a State with the strictest most stringent Covid restrictions and faired worse off than Florida. Boy Voyage, don’t forget your booster.

Just your friendly reminder, Covid is not a religion. Even if there is a cult like following.

Given the news from the last few days, the odds of it happening is getting better and better. I'm betting that cruising will start back up in July, and slowly phase in. The question is how they do it- either with test cruises (with lots of testing) or vaccine targets.

              • If this ends the cruise industry it will not have been in vain.

No Alaska cruises anytime soon with Canada closing their borders still.

It's not even really up to them, it's up to any country they plan to dock in. Most countries (Canada included) require ALL passengers to comply with whatever vaccination rules they have or the ship cannot dock.

So moron Trump wannabe governors can pass all the laws they want, but if Princess Cruises or Holland America wants to dock in Puerto Rico, Canada or any of the island nations in the Caribbean, they're going to need to require vaccinations that meet the strictest rules.

Also, and I ask this rhetorically, I thought the GQP was all for businesses to decide for themselves? Except this. Or wedding cakes for gay marriages. Or anything else the hypocrites don't like.

It's ridiculously funny that they get it literally backwards.

That's going to be the kicker, isn't it? I have to imagine that vaccine passports are going to force these covidiots into a smaller and smaller world.

as someone that lives in a small town that gets hundreds of cruise ship visits a year (sometimes more cruise ship visitors than actual residents in town on a given day)

                              I ****ing hope so
