They're already used to a sh*tty, insurance-driven model of healthcare where the wealthy get access to the best of everything. They still marry off their kids at 20. It's practically win-win.
    They hate Muslims, too.

This is a great question, though: is there, anywhere in the world, a party or faction of racially diverse fascists? I guess the closest there is is conservative Christians. That's probably the best bet for the GOP to continue to be relevant. Dial down the racism while dialing up the superstition.

If the white fundies could join up with the black fundies and the Mexican Catholics, yeah, they'd have to lose the actual Nazis, but things would go so much easier for them. Corporate America wouldn't give them any crap: the capitalist ideal is a United Colors of Beneton ruling class of trillionaires presiding in perfect racial harmony over an inchoate mass of serfs.

The only catch is they would have to keep the racism alive in the drones to keep them from uniting against their rulers. That's tricky, but they have all of advertising and marketing to teach them how to fool people.

Maybe? On one hand kids were apart for a week on the other hand it seems like a ton of people traveled and the week after break was the first week back to full in person for many grades...

Received Moderna 2 last Monday. By Tuesday night, I was hot and sweaty, and then I took Wednesday off due to feeling hot and sweaty. By Thursday afternoon, I was fine.

                  Ahem.

Germany’s Oktoberfest, which has been canceled for the second year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is to be staged in Dubai, upsetting traditionalists.

Authorities in Dubai are reported in German media to have approved the festival, which will be staged for six months, much longer than Munich’s typical two weeks, commencing in October in the Dubai Marina.

Beer will be imported from Germany, along with authentic serving staff. “Baywatch” star Pamela Anderson, actor Steven Seagal, and politician and “Terminator” actor Arnold Schwarzenegger are reported to have been invited.

                  • President Biden wants 70% of adults at least partially vaccinated by July 4. Good luck with that. The pace of vaccinations is slowing tremendously. There were many times more people present and getting shots on March 30th, when I had my first dose, as opposed to April 30th, when I got the second. And yesterday we delivered the fewest doses of the vaccine in almost 3 months, just over a million. We are rapidly approaching the point where everyone who wants a shot has one. It will help some that the age has been lowered to 16, and if I understand correctly, EUA may be coming for kids 12-15. But even with that, supply is heavily outstripping demand almost everywhere.

Maybe we'll get there, but I doubt it. I am never surprised at the rabid stupidity of too many people. Or their refusal to see the truth even when it is slapping them in the face. This vaccine and the infrastructure that was put in place to roll it out is actually one of the more impressive things I have seen the government accomplish in the last generation. Working in partnership with the medical community we have seen a vaccine developed that is both undeniably EXTREMELY safe and effective. And getting 105 million Americans fully vaccinated in under 5 months is truly a miracle. One we needed. It's just too bad 1/4th to 1/3rd of this country lives in a fantasy land. If people just did the right thing, we could easily have the entire population of those old enough to get it vaccinated, and we could probably do that by July 4th.

I wonder if I will live long enough to see a return to the days when everything does not become politicized.

I think we are entering an important phase. The people not getting vaccinated now are covidiots, and by not getting vaccinated they are freeing up slots for the sane.

The morons are offing themselves and their kids to own the libs.

I am a cynical, decrepit, old hateful ****, and at this point, I absolutely hope everyone who doesn't get this vaccine because of "their freedoms", or the liberal hoax, or to own the libs, gets the virus and dies. Play stupid games, get stupid prizes.

This country would be a better place.
