This is what comes from letting the DPH become unfunded and thinking you can sail along using for profit businesses pseudo-non-profit hospital systems to handle things.
Welcome to the USG scheduling system, VaxTrax. That is exactly what we do. They don't announce when new caches of appointments drop. You just keep trying to get in and sometimes you do. I've been trying for weeks and nothing.

    That's how lottery rationing works.

Are your hospitals overwhelmed? When did it change from that parameter?

You will be happy to know that communities with schools open are experiencing nothing different than places with remote learning. The virus doesn't care about your yellow, red, hot pink, sorta blue maybe purple, complete and utter nonsense bullsh*t.

We are worse. Everyone knows the big load drops on Thursday morning, sometime. People are starting at Midnight. Then they run out and you are back to the dribbles of appts like you are mentioning.

                  • My parents (73 & 70) are getting their 1st shots (Pfizer) tomorrow in Mexico. They were going to come back to CO if it was easier to get it here, it was not.

I can't say I mind not seeing it. It is work to ignore and not try to edjicate the idjits.

The News was full of people with anecdotal stories like Scarlet's re being on site and trying to access appointments. Some legislative committee grilled the Gov for his inability to deal. I think part of it is the silliness of trying to have it both ways. Just freaking say this is the way it is. The nonsense of trying to placate people saying stupid, undeliverable things and then they get pi55ed. Just flipping say no.

Covid can’t spread in schools or restaurants.

No clue but I suppose it’s tougher if you’re not 75 or a healthcare worker

                        • It's interesting to read the stories about getting vaccinations- as we have learned over the past year, we are very blessed and lucky. Neither of us are rushed to get a vaccine, as the only significant thing it could help is us going to a relative's graduation this spring. But we've already decided against that- as it just increases our exposure in a manner that we don't need to do- it's heart breaking that we can't go, but it's ok.

So we are just going to wait it out for our turn.

In terms of schools- teachers in MI are on list 1B here- so they are getting done now, so schools can reopen in late March (in theory). It was interesting to see a report that a school was the source of a huge outbreak somewhere- just like the cold and flu every year. Shocking. And we've seen more than one outbreak start from a bar or restaurant. What sucks is when the bad ones don't do anything and start a major breakout, which shuts down all of the good ones. I wonder how many good, rule following, massive investment to change the air handling, restaurants had to close because the bad ones keep them closed.... It's an industry that can't police themselves, as there's no way for the good ones to have any impact on the bad ones.

Anyway. still planning around social distancing for the majority of 2021, which means all of the new things we figured out last year we are doing again- travelling around locally and using an travel trailer vacation.

                          • Michael Osterholm on CNN right now saying B117 is doubling in the US every week and we’ll likely need to pivot from reopening to locking down in next month or so.
