Exactly. This is "shut up, he explained." It's the authoritarian mindset of violence and dominance, from groveling obedience to an Old Testament Psychopath in the Sky to the assumption of that role in miniature by abusive parents and schoolyard bullies.

These are the opposite of the New Age touchy feely parents. These are the white trash f-cks that slam their kids' faces in for some violation of an iron age superstition or Neolithic gender projection.

Disagree. There are absolutely people that who cannot believe they can't do what they want. I have some farrrr left people in my family who cannot wrap their head around the fact they can't negotiate and only follow the rules some of the time because after all they are mostly good. Challenge that and they are downright nasty because they have talked themself into believing the rule they don't like shouldn't exist

I've honestly never met a person like that, and the only people I've met who are being pouty pants about masks are rightards doing it because of dickpill talk radio freedumbs.

I can't help that you have lefty weirdos in your family. ;-) The lefty weirdos I know all have PhDs.

The leftards are more painful than the right ones. The right ones are stupid and deny there is a problem. The left ones have ridiculous rationalization that is just silly.

Uunlike you, I don't believe these sorts of attitudes are only confined to the basest of the base Dump supporters. I see it every day out here in the real world outside the Beltway.

                    You should visit it someday.

As I said, and I can't believe I'm siding with rover on this, but you need to get outside your hoity toity DC cocktail party circuit and deal with some people out here in the real world.

Sure, all your libbie friends in DC think just like you do. That's why you know what's best for everyone else.

                      • If I'm going off my FB feed of those back home it's not my liberal friends whining about using masks. I obviously can't attest to what's happening at your local grocer and I am sure there are liberals also fighting wearing them but on the whole if I had to guess it's 75/25 c/l.

                        • I didn't live through it but have read about the sacrifices people back home made during WWII (and on the field, obviously). Maybe this virus just needs to kick our collective azz for a major attitude adjustment.

I’ve thought about that too. No way would it happen again- people have Netflix and food delivery and they act like it’s oppression. As one lady in my hood said- Tim walz is waging a war on young families.

it’s all about personal freedom. Public health and society? Screw them.

I guess it depends on what one considers an anti-mask psychotic.

My city recently passed and ordinance where masks are required outside in the downtown area as well as on the rail trails. It states that masks have to be up covering your face at all times (not just when social distancing is not possible). Now keep in mind that any time up until now that i've gone for a jog on the rail trail, i've kept the mask around my neck and then pulled it up if I approach someone.... that might happen maaayyybe 2 or 3 times over the course of a mile and a half... and even then it is easy to pass by them and keep 12 to 15 or more feet away (while still pulling up my mask). Under the new rules, it has to be over your nose and mouth even if nobody is within 100 yards of you.

Am I an anti-mask psychotic because i think that portion of the rule is stupid?

Edit: the other part of this is that our city of almost 20,000 people currently has less than 5 recorded active cases (going by what the state of Mass released this week).

                              • Christ that is a stupid rule...but it probably wouldnt be necessary if people werent selfish *****s.

But yeah that rule is overkill.
