"We are in the process of developing a strategy that's going to be very, very powerful.
Hey, about time. Been seven months since you first heard about the virus.
What kind of cheese are you planning to put on top?

      • Wow.

“The data from AZ is frustrating to the point of being almost unusable.
        @Hold
points out all of the moving parts. Check the thread for his chart showing the impact that held over reporting has on the visual. 1 death/day for 30 days does not have the same meaning as 30 in one day”

Frustrating day again with AZDHS death report: - Removed ~50 deaths Sunday; re-added ~50 today on mostly the same days

        • Concerns arise as some receive positive COVID-19 results but never got tested

As a result, we are wasting time and resources that should be spent on important testing. I think we should only test people who are symptomatic, who have come into contact with someone who has tested positive, or people who are going into health care facilities to either work or get treated (to prevent unknown exposure to healthcare workers). All of this drive thru nonsense just because people are curious is useless.
Thankfully you are only on a message board and not in charge. This post is hands down the best example of why people who do not have knowledge or training in critical thinking/consequences related to epidemiology have no business doing anything more than playing Pandemic on a laptop keyboard.

Except, that world doesn't exist, and frankly can't exist. It's simply impossible to do that.

In the real world, where the rest of us reside, endless testing of asymptomatic people is generally useless. Yes, you might stumble across a few positives and we can then ask them to isolate or do contact testing. But the vast majority of it is a waste of precious testing resources and of precious time available from testing professionals.

I got tested back in May before a doctors appointment. I was negative. What does that do for me today?

My wife decided to go through one of the drive thru testing centers right after Memorial Day. She was negative. What does that tell us about her today?

Sure, if we've got everyone with symptoms tested, if we have all of their contacts tested, if we've tested everyone going in for medical procedures, and at that point we have a bunch of testing people and lab workers sitting around twiddling their fingers, waiting for more tests to perform, go ahead and start testing random asymptomatic people. No objection from me. But don't interfere with the important testing to do it.
Actually there are countries who tested lots and lots of people and look where they are. We made excuses for why we should not try to do it. Look where we are. Hmmm. The nonsense about not being able to test is all to do with poor leadership and poor management of resources when we first started.

                And really...why would he be?
Because he only has so much time in his day and he's going to spend that fact checking and issuing corrections....

Until we start respecting average everyday people in this country the waywe knobslobber over every two-bit college or pro athlete, then we aren't getting anywhere.
Wouldn't want to be some of those athletes. They are put in an untenable position- be safe and catch a ton of heat as well as put their future livelihood at risk or play and not be safe, put their livelihood at risk.

No amount of chocolate milk would do anything for that. Somewhere back in the first threads I was talking about how in the South their situation was worse than in some 3rd world countries. Here you go. And you aren't going to get to see how bad it really is going to get. Why do you think the CDC isn't getting data anymore?

Most of what is going on in Texas is in border towns. And those *** hole 3rd world Americans are accepting and treating sick people crossing the border in need of treatment.

Same thing is happening in Southern California.

                              • Ok Jeb, if you think the protests were such a bad idea in terms of increasing spread -- despite the fact they were outside and, that 80 plus percent of the protesters wore masks -- please cite a single article by a respected virologist, epidemiologist, infectious disease specialist, or scientific publication that definitively states that the protests significantly increased the spread of the virus.
