You start off reasonable but then when you call people sheep for pointing out that cretins are cretins and you lose me. Never mind, I guess.

I get you want to be irresponsible and not get called out. I want to be 6-3. We both need to get used to disappointment.
Ok so what is being irresponsible then? Please enlighten me. What have I called for that you find irresponsible?

They aren't sheep for calling out cretins. Although it all depends on what is considered one.

But that's what they're doing, calling out cretins, yet you called them sheep.

You know what? Never mind. Lesson learned.

Hopefully this goes down to the level pre-Delta back last July when it was down to 12k.

The more delayed deaths is still pretty close to the Delta peak as it declines.

Can't really declare this is over until it's far more predictable- as these surges mean we have no real clue what the future brings. But it's also interesting how impatient people are- since we are still having numbers in the Delta range and we are lifting masking and whatnot. Hope that works out

Good for our plans- if the trends follow 12 months ago, our travel plans for May will be very safe.

BTW, what in the world are the truckers protesting about? The only real national mandate is masking in airports and on flights. That's it. There are very few states that have more restrictions to prevent any significant movement of people. Talk about people who want to get into cancel culture- since they are literally protesting nothing. Any vaccine requirements are from individual companies- who should be allowed to do what they think is safe for them and their company.
I am impatient with the impatient. ::insert rolleyes emoji here::
There has been NO concerted, consistent effort to do what we need so of course it is still going on. You pretend something doesn't exist then expect it to magically go away and where does that get you?

Scientific American had a great article about how the messaging has shifted to the need to get back to normal and dismissed the cost and death. As said in the article it dismisses an awfully large portion of the population= the young, the old, the immunocompromised, those unable to be vaccinated and all those who work in places where they are expected to martyr themselves and put themselves at risk because people need to get back to normal. First it was only gong to be the vulnerable and they said it would matter if it got the general population. Then it hit the general population and they said wellllll if it hit the children... then it hit the kids and they said NBD.

The comments on mildness of Omicron- only if you are vaxed. Waiting to see the cost to all the Orange states- death, hospitalization and long covid in a population with poor access to healthcare, poor insurance coverage and reliance on Fed $ to rescue them. Feds ain't going to be able to dig them out of the hole and the collateral damage to families/communities is going to be nasty

While this is true, almost all of the people you describe here could easily help themselves by getting the free, easily available vaccine. How much longer should the rest of us to who the risk is similar to any other cold or flu we have dealt with for years continue to upend our lives to protect those who are too stupid to do anything to protect themselves?

If it were only they I would say open up today, but there are many, many people who would love to get vaccinated but can't. We are protecting them. The anti-vaxxers can all fall off Darwin's mechanical bull and no one will shed a tear.

I would say if you could have been vaxxed but weren't you get no insurance dollars, private or public. **** you.

                    • Community spread is a big factor too. In MA, for example, cases seem to have leveled off a bit around 1200ish a day. But positivity rate continues to drop (7 day average at 2.21%) and hospitalizations continue to plummet.

That just isn't a lot of spread right now here, and the trend is dropping (slowly now, but previously dropping quickly). I'd anticipate a small bump/continued plateau as restrictions are further lifted but I'll say this again - in this state there's virtually no one left that's truly immune naive.

If I go out right now, my chances of encountering someone with an active Covid infection (symptomatic or non-symptomatic) are as low as they've been since the summer of 2021, as the Delta wave was just beginning.

                      • For two years, covid alarmists have presumed their righteousness.

What is noble about spending two years chasing an unachievable goal... scaring families, hurting children, destroying livelihoods, and pushing 100 million into poverty?

                        Covidians are a ****ing disgrace.

This report- https://ukhsa.koha-ptfs.co.uk/cgi-bi...5ad4f72ae0dfff suggests that there is more risk to the unvaccinated than the vaccinated. Maybe some of the specialists can break down the numbers, but less is less. Less likely to be symptomatic in the first place, and then less likely to turn that into long covid if it is symptomatic.

So the population can reduce the risk and numbers by just getting vaccinated. Which is a suggestion that has been ignored for over a year now. Not just ignored, but fought against.

It’s been over 2 weeks since my round of COVID started, but I still have a cough and some slight pressure over my chest. Aside from that, I feel fine. That makes me wonder if I’d count towards those stats.
