The think the haters are latching on is that the required load for Omicron is so much different that the omicron vs cloth mask is worse than previous tests vs no mask. So it make it appear that the single layer cloth mask is less than beneficial. But it's still better than nothing. Especially if both the person with the virus and the person without have one.

Then again, when this all started 2 years ago, all of the research pointed at two layers of cloth- of different materials. Which would give you 80-90% effectiveness to reduce the loading. Not as good as an N95, but certainly better than nothing.

Basically, the anti news is trying to undermine any thing that helps. Again. Hardly a surprise- they are also the ones that claim that since vaccines are not 100% effective, people should not bother getting them. Even though the rates of hospitalization and death are many times lower with the vaccine.

The whole confusion BS is totally because there is no perfect solution, which means they are easy targets for anyone thinking they don't want to do it- vaccines, social distancing, masking, etc- none of them are perfect, so they become targets even though they are clearly effective. (just remember how few colds and flu's people have had over the last 24 months- and the cold is insanely transmittable)
    LMAO

At this stage of the pandemic, cloth masks don't provide much protection against COVID-19, according to

    • The more I read about Omicron the more it seems like a spectacular threat to the unvaccinated. It appears that it rips through the entire population -- vaccinated or not, you get it -- but the vaccinated are prepared and they don't get sick. Usually they're entirely asymptomatic. Then it reaches the unvaccinated and they are well and truly ****ed.

This is terrible news for those with loved ones who are involuntarily unvaccinated due to medical conditions, because we could infect them and never even know it.

Everybody please just stay the **** away from each other until this over.

What about those who have been infected and recovered?

What do you have for us there Bobo?

And on staying away from others? Hard No.

But it is nice to know that the freak shows are in hiding.

If he's so concerned about the lack of action on Covid, maybe he should get Susie and her dusty old twat to do something about it.

Oh, wait, Republicans in the Senate don't give a crap about what Susie has to say.

                • Was thinking about the organizations that are testing vs. not, and requiring vaccinations vs not...

If testing is going to be effective, companies need to do it for their bottom line. For the sake of the flight workers, airlines need to start testing their passengers- since they are the 99% odds of why their employees are getting infected and can't work. It's now hitting their profits because they can't fly.

And I would extend another requirement to them- vaccinations.

As much as the government should make that happen, I don't see them being able to thanks to all the people like jebbers who want to see people die. But they can, and should, implement testing for their passengers as well as vaccinations.

Planes are how this virus is going from place to place so incredibly quickly. And it's my opinion that a vast majority of outbreaks on cruise ships can be traced to the travel from home to the port- which will be flights. The crew can't really get off the ship, so their only exposure is to passengers. Who probably getting it travelling from home.

Between the massive number of people inside airports and the relatively small spaces that planes are- just requiring masks isn't enough.

So there's where fast testing would be helpful.

Deny infected people from flying for the sake of the pilots, flight attendants, and airport crew.

                    • Hospitalizations in NYC rising faster than at any time since March 2020.

                      Not cases. Hospitalizations.

They need to stop testing people.

If that's what it takes, so be it. Just start testing airline passengers. That should help slow down the spread.

                          • Too many of the rapid tests return false negatives for that to be a reliable solution. Particularly for asymptomatic carriers, which many vaccinated & boosted cases are.

The biggest benefit might be fewer people travel.

True. But better than not testing at all, isn't it?

And I know people will lie about their symptoms just to board a plane. Some won't, but it's the people hiding the symptoms that are the dangerous ones.

Seems that something needs to be done- between the health of their employees and the health of the bottom line, airlines are bleeding money because sick people are boarding planes. And that spreads the virus to who knows where.
