Actually a huge issue, and not just in the south. I think we need a new, comprehensive and sweeping Civil Rights/Voting Rights Act in this country to address election shortfalls that are NOT just happening in the south. We need to address gerrymandering at a national level. We need to ensure new methods of voting that reflect a 21st century population. We must make proper funding of election logistics a national priority. This, along with real criminal justice reform, are the civil rights issues of the 21st century in fact.

Sadly true. There are a LOT of wonderful people teaching our children, but public schools, as they are managed by local school boards, are still the factory where they make little boxes all the same.

All those people killing themselves while stuck in lockdown.

Funny the time period when those lines started to diverge.

                • There are several states that seem to have major outbreaks of "unspecified viral pneumonia", coincidentally while they're telling us that COVID is totally overblown. Strange!

Dropping the snark, no one is sure what to expect in these deaths. Car accidents are down due to lighter traffic. But deferred healthcare is a real issue. Depression and other mental health issues are increasing and suicides are up. These are real problems and we kid ourselves if we brush them off. They aren't nearly as catastrophic as the plague ravaging the world, but we can acknowledge the fact that the (totally necessary) lockdowns have significant impacts on population health.

Ignoring the right wing hysteria (and their new found crocodile tears (I mean "concern") with mental health and population health), we can't stay closed forever.

                      The #LockdownBro’s would disagree.

TX reported 4200 COVID deaths in July. So we can assume the Nazi-run states (TX, FL, AZ, GA) have triple the reported figures. All because of reopening and then s-cking off Dump.

That's a lot of murders, even for the right.

                        • The situation is concerning. For example, only ~12% of American adults are metabolically healthy. This is not sustainable. There is a need for a discussion about public health intervention, in which everyone has to engage, whatever their political beliefs. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30484738/

                            Lockdowns kill.

Sobering reading. Sage estimates of non-Covid lockdown deaths. Around 81,500.

I wonder if they will hide any student deaths to stay open.

Again, how in the hell did a scientific health problem become a political thing like this??!!?!?!!?!? People are dying because "leaders" are tying to score political points.
The Superintendent of Schools said "wearing a mask is a personal decision and in any case there would be no way to mandate it." Which I assume means girls in that high school can go topless since there's no way to enforce a dress code.

This is why we have to root the cons out from the White House all the way down to every single elective office in the country (appointed offices will gradually follow once they are scoured out). These morons can never be permitted to endanger lives again. The entire political ideology should be put under an involuntary hold. It is by definition non compos mentis.
