I'm curious as to your take on Jacobson v. Massachusetts and how/whether it applies to the topic at hand.

Didn't you have your Wedding right in the middle of all this? How many deaths do you think were a direct result of your Wedding?

Are you ready to face an accuser?

Or do you just want to prosecute “those people?”

          • If enough non-partisan doctors and scientists support a vaccine I will support I dont care who politically is behind it. If it is just Trump/cronies and the CDC not a friggin chance in hell. There needs to be independent confirmation with lots of scholarly articles that have been heavily reviewed and vetted before I will trust any vaccine that comes out that fast.

And to be honest if on Jan 21st Joe Biden and his people announced a vaccine I would highly doubt its legitimacy.

I am of two minds of forced vaccinations but if it comes to schools and other jobs or situations where you will be around large groups of people there should be rules that force those companies or whatever to have their employees either vaccinated or masked until they vaccine up. It does kind of give me the heebee geebees though about the idea of forced vaccinations but the needs of the many always outweigh the needs of the one.

                  Yes, this.

Assuming sanity is restored I don't know how long it will take to scrape all the garbage out of the federal agencies. The politicals will be gone on day 1 of course, but over the last 4 years a lot of idiot careers have been promoted because they went along with the Nazi regime. Those are time bombs that have to be neutralized (you cannot fire them but you can designate them for alligator tracking duty in North Dakota).

First DGF- Thinking of you and sending lots of positive vibes (and prayers, even if it isn't PC). Hang in the best you can.

Second- Reading the posts about holding people accountable- The example I use is a guy visits a prostitute who has an STD (Hep B). She doesn't know or care if she has something. She doesn't require he wear a condom- she has unprotected sex with every one of her clients. He get some crud and gives it to his partner. and others in the house because it spreads by surface contact too. Is she responsible? Is he? How about both. She is doing something that will probably ensure she catches something. He is doing something that he should know is risky. The people in the house are sick because they both did something they knew could put others at risk. Do they get a pass because...? Not sure about legal answer but morally they are responsible.

Watching this play out I plan to see if there is a way to get to Canada to get a vaccine. 100% do not trust anything vetted by CDC/FDA while they are being run by political hacks appointed by a sociopath with megalomaniac tendencies. If they were to put legitimate people in those leadership roles I would reassess.

Having dealt with some of the diseases that have vaccines I have pretty strong feelings about people who don't want them. We make vaccines because the disease debilitates, kills or maims. Anyone has the right to not vaccinate. I will not argue that for a minute. It is their body... but.... They do not have the right to be a glorified vector, circulate in society, putting others at risk, for any reason. Personal right extends only until it impinges on the rights of others.

There is no way to tell if someone is carrying contagion. You can test every day but that will still not ensure they are not contagious because of the prodrome/presymptomatic period where they shed disease and are unaware. Most vaccines are not 100%. If there is a large dose or continuous exposure it may still override the immune system and get the person sick. Herd immunity decreases the chance of spread because you have less chance of the large dose or exposure. Ex- flu vaccine is 70% effective. If everyone is vaccinated there is less disease and spread.

Public health history has many examples of quarantining before treatment availability Typhoid Mary, people with leprosy, measles, rubella, smallpox, TB were sequestered, plague ships not being able to dock. Breaking that had dire consequences because folks knew the result was death. My favorite was the story of Venice which managed to stay plague free while other places were ravaged because they had amazingly strict restrictions. When they finally failed it was because someone broke the rules to satisfy as official's need for profit- killed a ton of people. Hmmm

Now we have ways to vaccinate or treat there is no excuse for knowingly putting others at risk. If the person chooses not to then they should be the ones who have their activity contained, not the rest of society. Otherwise they hold the rest of the people hostage by their free movement

My position will be driven by what medical experts say about it. If they say it's not going to be possible to bring COVID under control without vaccinations then we'll see what percentage of the population gets them willingly. If it's too low then we'll have court cases about whether the idiots are going to be permitted to murder the non-idiots.

Cheer up, you've had years to stack the courts, so the idiots may still win.

                            • My assumption is that I will have to get the vax in order to travel for work again. If the firm doesn't require it, our clients might as part of the contract before we come on-site.

But I also think so much of what we do can be done remotely, that I question when I will be asked to travel again. Certainly not until Jan 1 at the absolute earliest.
