Even as we must treat accusers with seriousness and dignity, we must hear out the accused fairly and respectfully, and recognize the potential lifetime consequences that such an allegation can bring.
Kavanaugh had the chance to request for an investigation to clear his good name from the onset, he had his chance to be heard fairly and respectfully and he's now been caught telling how many lies? Lifetime consequences are beside the point and misses the point altogether especially if the allegations are true. We should not have ignored them simply because Kavanaugh might lose out on this one opportunity and if he is guilty he should have thought of that before he accepted the nomination.

I did read it genius...and it is real big of you "not to blame them" for doing the right thing. You and Scooby seem to be in Monday Morning QB mode (to be fair more him than you) and i want to know what the alternative was. Not me ripping you or him just want to know because honestly if doing the right thing is the wrong move than we got bigger problems.

The Dems did everything right, they didnt overplay their hand in fact they played it pretty much on point. The second the FBI started ignoring witnesses and refusing to interview the people involved the hunt was canned.

Honestly, I'm starting to think every effing Stepford Wife and Church Lady south of the Mason-Dixon is just as awful as the Proud Boys and others of that ilk. I guess they're OK with being assaulted, as long as he's white, attractive, and popular. Or blaming themselves if they were drunk.

The Democrats got played and they fell for it. Coons should never have entertained Flake's offer. He should have told him if you want to go for it you're on your own. Instead the Democrats overplayed their hand and the Republicans pulled off a sham investigation and got every female conservative amped up.

And here's more evidence they got played.

Do the Democrats really think there was no investigation in the investigation is a winning narrative?

                  They got played.

It's possible to note that they had good intentions and that it still backfired. The problem from the onset though was that if Trump is the only one who can call the investigation, he can also set the parameters for how it's investigated and how quickly they have to get it done. And if you think he's gonna act in good faith, I have ocean front property in North Dakota to sell.

I think they did the right thing asking for an investigation but they don't really have an answer to expose it for the sham that it is.

What would or could they ask Ford? She said under oath that she told us everything she knows under oath. Unless there is some contradiction that comes up, there is literally nothing to ask her. Same goes for Kavanaugh. He was questioned under oath extensively by staff, and publicly testified under oath as to his story. Give me a question the FBI should ask Ford or Kavanaugh that wasn't asked and answered?
How the heck would I know...I am not an investigator. Jesus talk about a straw man

You do know that investigators tend to question people multiple times right? Maybe she remembered something after her testimony or maybe he found something of value that could be used to help his case. Things are fluid. You talk to them as your jumping off point. They didnt do that.

Again the whole purpose to this sham was to look into whether her claims are credible right? Dont you think the two people involved in the complaint should be part of the investigation? If they say the exact same things fine, you wasted what two hours? They only spent like 72 hours doing actual investigation I am not sure it would have been that much of a drain on their time and resources.

But fine I will concede the point on Ford for the sake of this argument. (in truth I dont buy any of that at all but I want to move on to other topics for now) What excuse does the FBI have to not interview any of the witnesses Ramirez put forth? It makes no sense. Why is it that the FBI cant seem to find anything of value in any of this yet people are coming forth daily saying "I tried to talk to them but they (the FBI) ignored me" or "I went to school with Brett and he is lying". Why is it they dont feel the need to talk to Brett's roommate from Yale who said Brett is lying about his testimony? It isnt like he is in hiding, he was on tv last night saying just that. Seems like something the FBI would look into since lying under oath to Congress is a crime. (not to mention unbecoming of a SJC) It isnt like they dont have the time...they had until tomorrow. They could call him right now and ask him about it...I am not saying they have to extend their time or anything...but my god maybe use all the time allotted to look into things?

That is the problem, I was all ready to accept the fact the investigation found nothing...but not like this. The FBI didnt even try. Not only that they didnt even try to hide they werent trying. They spent the minimum amount of time possible looking into things and got done early so they could be done with it. It is noon on Thursday and the report is done and the whole thing is over. Meanwhile more and more people and groups are saying this is wrong. The FBI is the team that knew they were going to lose, but instead of trying their best and coming up short just said "Bleep it who cares!" and goes down in flames.

We are just not going to agree on this.

You keep saying that but again how else should they have played it? I want a real answer that does the right thing and they win? You dont have one though because it doesnt exist. They had two moves, fight or let it go. If they let it go they lose their voter base so that isnt an option. So what should they have done that would have worked James Carville?

As for Avenatti, he needs to get his witnesses to go public and now. Him just bloviating isnt enough. They need to be heard by the people.

I don't know. They needed to thread a needle where they asked for the investigation but never got one. Flake was the key. Coons rode Flake hard. I wonder if Coons had ignored Flake and let him flap in the wind by himself what would have happened.

Trump isnt what stopped this though, I would love to say he was but he wasnt. The FBI is...they narrowed the scope way worse than he ever did and they had no reason to. Normally I would say it was to cover their a ss but outside of them completely screwing up his past background checks I am not sure what that would be. They just didnt care. They were me in 6th grade copying the encyclopedia to write a paper instead of doing it myself out of pure laziness.

The Dems have 1 move now...make sure the voters dont forget. Every day from now until November (and til 2020) they need to remind the people, and especially their voters, that this is the consequence. I dont care if it annoys the hell out of every voter Klobuchar said it best, the only check left is the people and if they plan to abdicate that responsibility that is on them not the politicians anymore.
