That's a nice way of saying things are no longer as lily white as they were in the '30s through '60s...

I am still trying to figure out what an "inclusive haircut" is or whatever. And the poor guy had to see tattoos!

I like how he wants politics out of his theme parks but makes sure to tell us who he is ;^)

Yeah that is why boycotts never work. There is always someone to replace you. And sooner or later you will go back.

I remember a few very effective boycotts where there were no replacements.
When I was a kid we lived in England and I went to school on an AF Base. The food was hideous. Undercooked or so overcooked it didn't hold shape. The upper grades all boycotted the hot lunch. I think one kid bought lunch in the whole week. Nothing like a bunch of outraged teens and preteens. They fixed it.

On the other hand I am still boycotting the local dairy for the last 10 yrs with probably no effect. The owner said, on local radio, that we shouldn't fund the schools. If we underfunded enough people would leave and there would be less students to pay for. We ended up losing State funding, had multiple schools end up on State warning. The 4500-5000$ a year I spent on milk, ice cream, produce has not gone back there. Most of the blow ins and those who value education also avoid it. He is very well connected so we make no difference. The area is full of little fiefdoms and the local serfs are easily lead. The serfs still go to the dairy.

Edit: JEEBUS ****. Zillow says my house is worth $353,000. Up from $313,000 in farking October. That's 13% in six months. A very small part of me wishes I could dump this thing, bank the cash, and wait for the correction.

I just checked my house, and that site says $293k. I paid $255k 18 months ago, and a house comparable to mine, though clearly updated recently when looking at the picks, was listed at $320k and sold a couple weeks ago. When the sale finalizes I’m checking county tax records to see the actual sale price. Based upon everything we’ve been seeing in this market, $350k wouldn’t really surprise me.

Zillow still thinks my property is a vacant lot (we finished construction winter of 2016), so it only reports what the town-assessed value is (it was last assessed in 2020 pre-pandemic). I wish I could see how they think the value has changed over the last 12 months. I used to think there was no way I'd get the value the town assessed it at ($447K), but now I really have no idea what I'd be able to list it for but I'd guess that $500K wouldn't be out of the question.

I’ve found that Zillow usually underestimates properties. My prior house was listed at half of its actual size.

could it be because they listed above ground finished floor space?

Yeah, that was my thought too, but they also cut the market value by about a third to go with that reduced size. Besides that, I’m of the opinion that a walkout basement isn’t below ground, but others seem to disagree.

                              • Yeah housing is nuts. We are redoing the kitchen (starting in like 2 weeks...can I just say this whole process is kinda stupid) and we honestly could have had our house appraised for whatever price we wanted they would have thrown money at us. Thankfully, we have brains and my gf has had a relationship with her broker for a long time. (as have her parents) It isn't a coincidence we got appraised for the exact amount we needed and not a penny more. (even though it is worth more)
