  • Sidney Powell is now using the Faux News defense in the suit from Dominion. She is saying no reasonable person could have believed the BS she was saying on TV so she can't be held responsible.

Well, it's not like her target audience was reasonable people...

And yet elsewhere in the brief, she claims that she couldn't have known what she claimed wasn't true, she believed it was true, and still does.

So, Sidney Powell by her own admission is not a reasonable person.

There must have been so many precedents to establish this as a fake defense. I don't understand how anyone gets away with it.

A network or a network personality like Alex Jones, maaaaaaaaaybe, because it treads into First Amendment, political speech, and satire. But a private citizen? Why don't I send a note to Verizon telling them I was kidding and no reasonable person could have expected me to pay for their services?

          • Well all she has is a first amendment defense. There is no way she can deny she said or acted the way they are saying because...well...this isnt 1920 everyone has the videos and other hard evidence.

The problem she is going to have is that plenty of people the Courts would deem reasonable including elected officials on the county, city, state and national level, the President, other lawyers, judges, business owners, writers...etc. parroted what she said and still do. And she didnt just do it on Cable News, she had press conferences and filed suits based on it. (THE KRAKEN!!1!) Her attacks against Dominion were one of the justifications for a friggin Insurrection!

It is one thing to be Tucker Carlson/Alex Jones/Sean Hannity and say your show is entertainment not news. That is BS but at least it skirts the line of legitimacy. Sidney Powell wasn't acting as an entertainer she was acting as a lawyer, one representing the President and his interests. It doesnt pass the smell test.

But unofan would know way better than us :^)

uno will know. To a layman, this seems like a Teachable Moment for some judge, and for the American Bar Association.

I don't know what their respective "nuke them back to the Stone Age" options are, but if ever there was a situation in which we want to deter imitators...

              • One thing worse than a Nazi?

                A Nazi snitch.

At least one of the Capitol riot defendants has flipped against the Proud Boys, agreeing to provide information that could allow the Justice Department to bring a more severe charge against the group's leadership, according to an attorney involved in the case.

The development is the first indication that people charged in the insurrection are cooperating against the pro-Trump extremist group. Federal prosecutors have made clear they are focused on building conspiracy cases against leadership of the Proud Boys and paramilitary groups like the Oath Keepers.

I wont lie...seeing the Natives kick the White People out of NoDak/SoDak would be fun as hell. Hell they can have half of Minnesota too! Implement the plan a local GOPer suggested of having Western Minnesota join SoDak...only make the Whites have their own Trail of Tears all the way to Montana or Wyoming.

Looking at the link in that tweet, if the Feds are going for a blackout on their fifty state bingo card, they've made some impressive progressive. In terms of those charged or indicted, it looks like only seven states are unrepresented as of yet: Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Wyoming.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

                          • Wow - 5 of those 7 seem like they'd be low-hanging fruit.
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

I can't really speak for the others, but here in the Dakotas we're still using dial up, so the incriminating videos are taking a long time to load.

                              • I also seem to recall reading in the Grand Forks newspaper that someone from North Dakota had been arrested, so it just may be they haven't been charged or indicted as of yet.
