  • Windows install help needed

Trying to do a clean install of Windows 10 on my desktop. Changed the boot order so computer will boot from DVD drive, but I can't get the setup program to run. It just hangs there on a black screen with a small Windows icon, sort of an oblong blue square partitioned into panes.

I thought maybe my drive was failing, but other discs loaded open up just fine.

When you say "clean" install...did you reformat the main drive?

I have not yet, I assume it will ask to do so before installing.

Anyway, I got it going. I think it's just really slow being XP 32 bit, and I'm gonna be installing 64. Just taking a long time to go through the process.

Can you install Win10.64 on a 32 bit processor?

Far as I know, it's a 64 bit processor. Just XP was a 32 bit build.

Anyway, looks like it's going. Let me choose which drive and partition to install on, and to format. Hopefully chose the right one. ;D about a quarter of the way through.

Well, I'm back, with a brand new Edge browser and Windows 10. This is gonna take some getting used to, and figuring some things out. Like how to import my bookmarks so they look similar to how they were and are easy to use. Right now, I've got a book length page of them.

Took a few tries at importing my bookmarks, but at least now it finally looks like they're all there and organized the way they're supposed to be. Although probably I'll still find some missing at some point.
