Yeah, MIT has a lot to answer for on this. Epstein did a lot of wining and dining there. Not that this casts doubt on the science (he didn't seem to do much beyond fund it... and then likely provide underage women), but oof. A fun fact gleaned from that article which shows how much planetary astronomy has advanced during my lifetime.
In 1975, I did an elementary school project on the evolution of models of the solar system. Jupiter at that time had just had its 13th moon confirmed, but it was suspected there might be up to half a dozen more. In college in 1983, I owned a game of solar system monopoly in which the number had grown to 17.
