  • Re: Drinking Thread: Three Sheets To The Wind

When they convene again, I'm looking at groups like SMART Recovery and LifeRing to help.

AA and the 12 step model never sat well with me.

Broke some social rules today, and attended a small bottle share. Cracked some $100+ bottles, such as Forager Dribbles and Crema, some Angry Chair, and other goodies. Some mead was mixed in, also.

It was needed. Kept it small, maybe 15 people, as opposed to the usual 150-200+ for a normal share.Perfect day for it, too, weatherwise.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

6 feet apart/15 minutes, we poured our bottles into others' glasses, etc. Nothing was touched by multiple people. No, it wasn't 100% by the current rules, I admit. We basically were doing what everyone in "essential" businesses are currently doing as for "contact."

Edit: I dare say, we were safer than someone going to Target/Cub/Home Depot/etc.

15 minutes within 6 feet of another person. The "constant" contact with another. So just walking by them, it's meh. Standing there talking with them or whatever for 15 minutes..uh oh.

has The virus now mutated to where it won’t spread in the first 15 minutes of contact? I’m confused

It will spread, but less than 15 minutes greatly reduces the chances. It's like the half-life on surfaces, etc.

Wasn’t there a series of studies just published that showed this thing can linger in the air for hours in an enclosed area?

Enclosed, I could see that. We were outside, so we could keep our distance.

The surface half life is measured in tens of hours. The log five reduction on plastic is two days. Metal it’s still 24 hours or more.

Cardboard is 24 hours also, IIRC.

15 minutes open air, is comparable to half life on surfaces. Depending on the environment (or surface) will determine the time of the half life.
