Just Google "male to female surgery" and there ought to be some highly educational results mixed in with people's personal stories.

From the University of Michigan Gender Services website, where I plan on having the surgery done.

At the University of Michigan, participants of the Comprehensive Gender Services Program who are ready for a male-to-female sex reassignment surgery will be offered a penile inversion vaginoplasty with a neurovascular neoclitoris.

During this procedure, a surgeon makes “like become like,” using parts of the original ***** to create a sensate neo-vagina. The testicles are removed, a procedure called orchiectomy. The skin from the scrotum is used to make the labia. The erectile tissue of the ***** is used to make the neoclitoris. The urethra is preserved and functional.

This procedure provides for aesthetic and functional female genitalia in one 4-5 hour operation. The details of the procedure, the course of recovery, the expected outcomes, and the possible complications will be covered in detail during your surgical consultation

It's pretty amazing what a good surgeon can do. I have a lot of appreciation for the required schooling after my mere appendectomy some years back. Takes quite a bit beyond GP to be a cutter.

I thought it was a good question. That is the kind of question you can have to sift thru a boat load of p00p to get the right site. Thanks for posting the answer Amber

I try. I also plan on going through U of M for facial feminization and breast augmentation.

I suppose most Boomers aren't necessarily inclined to look this stuff up in order to understand.

Nothing to do with being a Boomer. With stuff like this there are a gagillion hits. I know that depending on where you live, what medical facility you frequent, different procedures and schools of thought are in place. Not just for this but for plenty of things. Go to a conference and you can hear 3 dif speakers have 3 opinions that are all totally convincing about how you should go about something. Obviously there are some things that are the same but there is a lot of variance depending on region.

Example- sis-in-law's dad had a medical issue. Up there they went to 3 diff places, all of whom insisted the treatment protocol should be x which was very interventionist. Down where I am this was absolutely verbotten- if I had followed that protocol I would have been called on the carpet by all the Specialists who would have refused to proceed with the protocol they use up there.

. Ulcerative colitis has ravaged my colon. The best thing I ever did was stop listening to GIs who all say diet doesn't matter. It certainly matters in my case.

What idiot GI said that? that is probably one of the stupider things they could say. (Also tells you they aren't up on the latest research on diet and inflammatory foods)

Colon blow tomorrow eve and night in preparation for the moon probe on Monday.

Been a while since the last one which was clean and I don't expect problems.

I'll reread the previous description to be alert for abnormal symptoms.
