You have to remember the way armies used to be formed. They were composed of the dregs and the adrenaline freaks.

The rise of the nation state and mass conscription ruined that -- then armies just became a cross-section of everybody and we lost the evolutionary advantage.

Just another example of how it's all been sh-t since 1620.

Agents must protect Trump – who has traveled almost every weekend to his properties in Florida, New Jersey and Virginia
Remember when Trumpy said he would rarely be away from the WH because of all the work that needed to be done?

        Yeah, me neither.

But Obama took too many vacations and played way too much golf.

They also investigate a lot of tax evasion and money laundering, which makes a lot of sense to bankrupt if you're a Trump.

Almost as kind as celebrating the rebels who killed 300,000 Americans during the Civil War. Sniff. So patriotic.

Republicans think this is a stirring American documentary.

Where have I ever celebrated the confederacy? All my family fought for the North. Where that is the case I don't criticize people whose family fought for the south, but I certainly don't endorse it.

1620 is the real start of the country as far as I'm concerned. 2020 will be an exciting year as its 400th anniversary of the Mayflower and 200th anniversary of Maine's freedom.

I would think not slagging off those who have fought and died would be a requirement. We have our freedom because of them, and should be grateful for it.

Don't you know? If you don't believe in the liberal agenda, you're a nazi, racist, white supremacist, whatever the term of the week is.

I thought you were against political correctness and for telling things like they really are. Don't tell me we have to whitewash history just because it makes soldiers (or really, the leaders who send soldiers off to their deaths) look bad.

And for the record, Kepler wasn't just talking about American soldiers. The phenomenon of sending the serfs off to die for the landed gentry goes back to the dawn of human civilization.

That's a pretty weak defense. It's a mixed bag, obviously, but I don't think we should slag them off when it's something me and most of the people on the board haven't done. If Kepler has been active duty that's one thing, but I doubt he has. Regardless of their socioeconomic status or intelligence we should appreciate their sacrifices.
