Truer words... I would sooner not watch football than ever be caught dead in the **** and moldy cheese colored jersey!

FWIW the clip they showed of him on ESPN he looked ticked off. Usually he has that "I screwed with you" look on his face when he pulls this stuff, but this was different. My guess is Jay "I havent done a real bit of reporting in a decade" Glazer wont be getting much out of him for a while. Now he will play just to prove everyone wrong.

I'm not really a fan of the Packers. I've liked them in the past.

I guess I'm more of a fairweather football fan. I'll watch just about any game and enjoy it.

But I don't like the Vikings.

And attacking me personally or making suggestions as to what I'm like or any of that garbage you claim I do off the board is rather low.

Whatever though. If that's what makes you happy.

You're obviously an Internet novice. That's WHY Al Gore invented the Internet in the first place.

Veteran quarterback makes pitch to replace Brett Favre

Posted by Mike Florio on August 4, 2010 10:37 AM ET

So if -- and it's a really big "if" at this point -- Brett Favre conducts his Third Annual Retirement and doesn't chase it with his Third Annual Unretirement, at least one veteran quarterback has thrown his hat into the ring.

                  Jeff George.

Appearing with Paul Allen of KFAN, George said he'd be willing to jump in and take over, if Favre decides to get out.

                  (So is it April 1?)

George, the 42-year-old first overall pick in the 1990 draft, last played in 2004. He led the Vikings to the playoffs in his only season with the team, way back in 1999.

In 2007, George tried to get the Vikings' attention, and coach Brad Childress advised him to "maybe go to a fantasy camp or something like that." Last year, George created a small buzz with a workout tape that indicated he still has a lot of pop in his arm. He had hoped to return to the NFL. As we understand it, he resisted possible opportunities to play in the UFL.

The chances of George getting a chance in Minnesota falls somewhere between "no way in hell" and "are you f--king kidding me?" But maybe George, if he's willing to give the UFL a shot, could still show that he can get it done, even at 42.

After all, in little more than two months Favre will be 41.

I heard a rumor the entire retirement was a practical joke on Schianco...that Paul Allen, ESPN and everyone else bought is hilarious!

I heard Brett was mad at the Vikings for asking him when he's going to be ready and sent the texts. I think it's legit, the Vikings wouldn't have had the panic meetings and offering of more money if it were a joke or if they were never sent.

Are you kidding? The fact that they freaked like they did tells me they probably found out watching ESPN or reading the Strib in the morning. All of the coaches and most of the players said they heard nothing that day from Brett at all, hell Longwell said he talked to him the night before and Brett said nothing to him about retiring. Who do you think he would tell first a random player or his best friend on the team? They heard the report, saw how big a story it became and called him. If it was real the reaction out of camp would have been way different.

The only player who seemed to buy it was Shiancoe who said it sounded legit to him on the radio. (the rest all seemed skeptical or didnt care which tells me they knew it was bs) What I heard was it was like 5 players planned it (I am guessing Brett being one of them but it works without him) and when Shiancoe heard he became the "source" in the story that started all of this. Then Glazer ran with his story based on that story and his "conversation" with Favre and the ball was rolling.

There's been nothing to substantiate he was offered more money.

That... that actually wouldn't be too surprising.

In fact, if true, that's really ****ing funny.
