The man was a hero that day. Regardless of that, he was still there as either an ally, or, at the very least, a man whose family entire nuclear family thinks of LGBTQ people as equals, worthy of their time. Given the social climate of CO Springs, that’s no small thing. Every time they want to show this US Army veteran, it also shines a light on the fact that the military is not some monolithic GQP voting bloc.
