The swimsuit issue is their most profitable issue of the year. It leads to desktop calendars and so on. So long as people like looking at attractive women, it'll sell. As far as sexual exploitation of women goes, it's rather tame. Also, they're focused more on women who aren't walking twigs than the Vogues and similar mags.

For me, it's not a question of ALL, it's a question of WHICH. Or to put it another way:

Co-worker brings in doughnuts from the shop downtown. You know the shop downtown has had some sanitation issues, including spit and snot and other bodily fluids making it into batter. Some people have gotten sick from those doughnuts. You even got sick from those doughnuts. When the shop owner was questioned about the doughnuts, all he could say was "well, not all our doughnuts were contaminated" over and over again, regardless of how many times he was questioned.

There is one huge difference, though. In the case of MAGA and the Right more generally this flawed logic is used to reinforce stereotypes that have been enshrined in social practice and law and caused significant suffering to hundreds of millions of people. In OP and the Left more generally the flawed logic subverts stereotypes, "punches upwards," and hurts feewies.

Yes, it is sloppy thinking -- I wish everybody was smarter too. But the effect is very different. I'm not threatened as the target of this as a straight white cis male. Whereas an LGBTQ woman of color not only feels but literally is threatened by the ****ing sociopathic dullards in the GQP.
