FWIW, I completely accept the description of your own experience, and I absolutely support you in your journey to getting where you need to be.

What seems to have been lost in the fray here was my original point: simply choosing a gender on a given day, and via what agenda that particular day might obtain, is problematic in a broad social sense... are there as many non-financial hurdles for breast augmentation for trans women or mastectomies for trans men as there are for bottom surgery? I always assumed top surgeries were easier to get (there was a CIS man that got augmentation to win a bet, so they really have no business telling a trans woman they may regret it). They're also more reversible compared to bottom surgery. It would be pretty ridiculous if they make you jump through the same hoops, although I wouldn't put it past anyone to make **** more difficult for a trans woman vs some CIS dude that wants to win a bet with his poker buddies.

meanwhile, I've used co-ed bathrooms in other countries and somehow managed not to peep on, harass, or rape the women that were also using the restroom.

There is at least one category of spy-porn based of guys peeping women while they're on the toilet. It's my bet that this is the basis for these sorts of reactions to the idea of transwomen in bathrooms. The act of spying and/or filming in these settings is illegal already, and I'm pretty sure that almost all of the cases I've ever seen come up in the news involves in an apartment or rental home setting. (Coincidentally, I used to be acquainted with a woman who found a peep camera in the vent of her apartment's bathroom. My friend, her boyfriend at the time, paid a visit to the site. Miraculously, the camera disappeared from her kitchen countertop the next day while she was at work.)

I don't recall ever seeing an article in the news that something like this has ever happened in multi-person bathroom.

Sure, cameras I (almost) get, especially in home bathrooms where people would be naked, showering, etc. But that’s not the vantage point you would get by actually physically being in a public restroom.
