  • Re: Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

The first test--not counting the 100 or so they failed during the election--of Congressional backbone to stand up to Trump has been set. The Dems asked House Oversight Committee chair Jason Chaffetz to conduct a review of Trump's financial arrangements for potential conflicts of interest. I can only hope this is given the same seriousness of emailz!, which are still being investigated, for some reason.

Meanwhile, Trump is asking for highest-level security clearance for his awful kids that are supposed to be running his "blind trust" when he takes office.

Fortunately, yes. I saw the first four wickets fall tonight before I went to the gym. Australia is in all sorts of trouble. I think they would give Cameron Bancroft a go but he has been in pretty bad form this season in shield cricket. They should leave Voges at five and put Mitch Marsh back at six.

It would seem reasonable that the kids would either be "advisors" (and needing clearance) or running the family business (the blind trust). Working both would lead to too many potential conflicts. (Dare I say it would echo of Huma, "my second daughter", working for SecState Clinton and Huma working for Clinton Foundation Clinton.) If Trump's serious it's a straight up "or"; no crossover.

Apparently the UK Daily Mail wasn't impressed with Mr. Obama's pre-trip press conference today.

Headline: Condescending Obama says Trump can't keep his promises as he warns his successor's 'temperament' will be his undoing unless he 'corrects' it
Subhead: President Barack Obama delivered a patronizing series of backhanded compliments to Donald Trump in a Monday press conference

Why should he? You didn't care about him following the tradition of releasing his taxes. Does he really have any reason to follow the tradition of putting his business interests into a blind trust?

As far as taxes, the NY Times took care of that for him.

But if he's going to fly the Clinton Foundation pay-for-play rhetoric he'd better be willing to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. (If he doesn't, it'll confirm why I didn't vote for him.)

One tax return from twenty years ago did not "take care of that".

And don't kid yourself. The reason you didn't vote for him is because you're a gutless coward who wanted to be able to say "Don't blame me, I didn't support him" after spending months and months supporting him.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the headline come from Fox or the Mail. Both are conservative mouthpieces.

Latest from T^3 (Trump Transition Team) is no clearances have been asked for (Washington Examiner)

NY Times has some deeper demographics breakdowns from last week.

The one that gets me: White college graduates were still 49/45 Trump.

The most telling one: Residence. It is an urban/rural disconnect with the suburbs as the pseudo-DMZ.

Echo? It would be way worse. If they run his businesses AND have top secret clearance that could lead to abuses of power the likes of which I am not sure we have seen. This is like breeding "Pay for Play" with Wall Street (the film) level Insider trading.

Pardon me if I dont hold the Washington Examiner in high esteem. CNN, CBS and NBC are all saying they did. (Andrea Mitchell confirmed it with her source) They are all ten times more reliable than the Examiner.

Chances are they asked, were denied or saw the backlash (or both) and now are circling the wagons. But hey...draining the swamp!!!

The crap this guy is trying to pull makes even the crap they made up about Hillary look tame.
