They've been doing this since the late '90's. At some point it affects the Republic and everyday lives.

Very unlikely anything comes of it. The Herald itself has carried articles stating it's highly doubtful Biondi had ever even heard of the one minor complaint that had come in during her tenure at the time she solicited, and Trump gave her money. The AG just isn't involved with individual consumer complaints much and not at all on a day to day basis. She released all the office's relevant documents and after much fine tooth combing, nobody has come up with anything pointing to anything. We will see though, I guess.

But speaking of campaign contributions... more of the same crazy stuff that continually crops up around HRC.

This is what you do when you are a party with no ideas and your donors are pleased with the status quo. You try to freeze government. It doesn't matter if others are hurt, you're doing fine.

All the Republican party is now is an obnoxious child saying "Make me! Make me!"

I vote we make them. Clean them out of all power and get on with governing the adult world. Let them play with themselves in the corner.

I take it "people are saying"

Something big may well come of it if there's an independent investigation. He bribed her. It's really that simple. I thought you liked people who "tell it like it is"?

I'm never certain whether posts like this are an attempt to mislead, bored trolling, or a sincere statement of self-delusion. Do you really not see that this is bribery? Really?

I'm not sure he can swing a deal where he gets off scot-free. He bribed a public official, isn't that, you know, a felony? Does the DOJ go to Trump and say we'll give you immunity if you testify? Do they even need to? It seems like a little digging is going to turn up more than enough evidence to nail them both. I understand that the lawyers of the super-wealthy can effectively shield their client from ever actually being made subject to our laws. But once the lawsuits from the people he ripped off start coming to trial he's either going to have to settle with them or try to bluff it out, and if the latter then that will reopen the whole subject of his bribery.

                The Republican Party is worthless.

[P]rivately Teske gave a different reason for opposing an early-voting site at UW–Green Bay, writing that student voting would benefit the Democratic Party.

“UWGB is a polling location for students and residents on Election Day but I feel by asking for this to be the site for early voting is encouraging the students to vote more than benefiting the city as a whole,” she wrote on August 26 in an e-mail to David Buerger, counsel at the Wisconsin Ethics Commission. “I have heard it said that students lean more toward the democrats…. I have spoken with our Chief of Staff and others at City Hall and they agree that budget wise this isn’t going to happen. Do I have an argument about it being more of a benefit to the democrats?”

Rehash from earlier in the thread, Scooby.
"The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command." George Orwell, 1984

"One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its Black Gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep, and the Great Eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire and ash and dust, the very air you breathe is a poisonous fume." Boromir

No, people aren't saying, because nobody is talking about it besides political hacks. Well, apparently also that renowned consumer advocate for truth, justice, and all things bright and beautiful, the "Democratic Coalition Against Trump." who complained to the DOJ. Good grief.

I live in Florida and probably have seen or read 200 or more articles on the subject when it was still a subject. Was it a bribe? Sure. In the sense that all similar political contributions are a bribe. But beyond that? Are you kidding? I doubt I could get a favorable zoning ruling from the county board for $25k. It's not 1982.

Beyond that I'm not going to bother to rehash the facts of the case. They're there for anyone who cares enough to look through the resources.

I still find it funny though that people are convinced that Trump could buy all that influence for a measly twenty-five grand PAC contribution, but dismiss out of hand the very idea that the Clinton's could be affected by $30 million dollars in just the last couple years deposited in their personal accounts. Or no doubt also will dismiss the upcoming assertion by the right that $700k in contributions could garner any influence at all with the FBI. Maybe not, but if not, surely one can see that case alone sets the market price pretty high.

As someone who lives in southern Wisconsin (and travels to southern Missouri occasionally to visit in-laws), I've always wanted to stop in Springfield to see the Lincoln Library. From what I've heard, it is a worthwhile experience and especially relevant in recent years because it illustrates just how raw and adversarial presidential politics can become. We are not engaged in a great civil war now, but I understand crude vitriol was fairly common in those days even aside from the divisions between north and south. I'm sure there are some civil war era geeks here, so I'm interested to hear if any of you have been there.
