Every time the Church comes out with some form of homophobic twaddle I wince for them. The hypocrisy is so transparent you can cut it with a host.

            As it became clear that there was truth to many of the allegations and that there was a pattern of sexual abuse and cover-up in a number of large dioceses across the U.S., what had originally appeared to be a few isolated cases of abuse exploded into a nationwide scandal. Although the majority of cases were reported to have occurred in the United States, victims have come forward in other nations such as Ireland, Canada and Australia. A major aggravating factor was the actions of Catholic bishops to keep these crimes secret and to reassign the accused to other parishes in positions where they had continued unsupervised contact with youth, thus allowing the abusers to continue their crime.

                Same story with cops or the military. First priority is circle the wagons. Help the victims? Well, maybe we can get around to it later, but only if it can be done without admitting a smidgen of responsibility.

                    Wow. Gotta admit that I was disappointed to return this weekend and see no posts at all about the illegal occupation of federal lands that the Feds have decided to ignore. Are you guys really that big of hypocrites that this is acceptable to you?
                    That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.
