Nope. That's the difference here. The business is not refusing to serve anyone.(like the gay cake or pizza place actually did).

They're simply saying, please don't patronize our business. I mean, I assume a business could say to blacks, please don't come to us. But if blacks did show up, as long as they got served, I don't think there's any discriminatory issues at play here.

Just like a cop can find a reason to pull you over, I'm sure a business could find a legal reason to not give you service.

And I'm fine with that. If a business states an illegal reason to serve you, then there's a problem.

Personally, if I business chooses a path I don't agree with, I don't shop there.

I doubt it. Discriminatory advertising is a no-no, too.

The difference here is race-based discrimination is illegal, but political affiliation discrimination is not (except in certain localities).

There are ways around that. Many bars/clubs have rules for dress, such as no sports jersey, no baggy jeans, no hats, etc. Pretty much anything that is stereotypically "urban" (read: black) attire.

My dad went from hardcore conservative to making Paul Wellstone look like Rush during my lifetime, so I agree with Handy. His parents were rather conservative.

I would like to agree with Kepler and make all discrimination legal, letting the free market work itself out....but, I think there are too many bigots for this to be effective.

That's basically why I say "I'd prefer it" but I'm not really in favor of it. Bigotry is not evenly distributed, so in those areas where the bigots preponderate (is that a word?) minorities are sca-rooed.

That makes sense, though. He was indoctrinated by conservatives but his smart genes expressed themselves and he gradually got over it.

Sunshine is the best disinfectant. That's why I'd favor it.

And for the "preponderate" areas you mention, isn't that a free-market opportunity for someone of the other POV to pick up the business left behind?

Yeah, but that's not a paradox because Trump is not a conservative.

I am really interested in how many yous there are going to be. Particularly if the race widens and it becomes obvious that Trump is a lost cause, this could be a great year for the Libertarians, and they seem to be well placed to take advantage of it.

I'd love to see a few white knight billionaires* start airing Libertarian party ads -- not just for Johnson but for the party, what it stands for, how it is aligned well with a large number of voters, particularly the young. I have always thought the natural breakdown of the American electorate is left economic (D), right economic left social (L), and right economic right social (R).

                                * The Kochs are a natural. They don't really belong in the Republican camp -- they started Cato, they're heavily into the arts, and one of them was actually the Libertarian Veep nominee once! They're the classic example of teenage boys whose intellect froze when they read The Fountainhead and ever after they've been trying to immanentize the Free Market Eschaton. Imagine what a billion dollar advertising campaign could do for the Libertarian party at a time when the other two parties' favorability is ringing in around septicemia?
