When I graduated, CCT was a bit over $6K for tuition, room & board. Now, almost 40 years later, it's 10x that. Something is not right.

Just as a comparison, ice @ Walker was $30/hr back then. Now ice @ Cheel is around $100/hr. Obviously, Scott Smalling gets it!

I'd like to amend an old college prof's statement:

"If I had to go back and do it all over again, I'd be a defense contractor."

I'm a little surprised to see 'socialist paradise' Sweden with $5.5 billion in arms sales.

This is ironic, because I'm a defense contractor and if I had to go back and do it all over again, I'd be a college professor.

Sweden is proud of their combat jets. I don't know much about them, only that my college buddy from Sweden said that they were a point of national pride.

The original statement was that he'd be a drug dealer. That's pretty lucrative too, and far from illegal.

The Saab Viggen and the Saab Draken were very good fighter jets.

The new bird, the Gripen (Saab) looks pretty good, too.

Excellent article and exactly the kind of thing that needs to be publicized. I'd advocate going after these loopholes one at a time. For example, proposing taxing carried interest at the 39% tax rate in order to pay for college tuition grants.

Listening to the Leafs-Kings game on radio tonight. They were doing a commercial for the news and they were talking about the oil collapse has tanked the Canadian $.

How bad? 4 years ago the Loonie was worth $1.01 US. Now it is at a 10 year low of $0.71 US.

Anybody think the price of oil is going to go up so we can revive the $5 gas thread? Gas in NJ is $1.67. Around me it is slightly below $2. FYI Alaska is around $2.40.

Sure, but not anytime soon unless WWIII breaks out.

Oil will rebound, just as the $.90 gas from my high school days was never going to last. Whether it happens in 5 years or 15 years depends on a lot of unpredictable stuff, though.

I still don't think it'll hit $5/gal until that's the same as about $3/gallon today inflation wise, though.
