One thing I'll always be grateful to the the Yankees for is that in 2004, they left the stadium lights on after game 7 of the ALCS and let the Red Sox celebrate on the field long after the crowd was gone. That was only the ALCS, not the World Series. That was probably the end of the "____ suck" era and the beginning of an era of civility. After that, one or both teams sucked, and the Yankees that retired were widely respected.
