      • How does a thermostat cause smoking? If you over heated a honda to the point of smoking, that sucker is likely junk. Aluminum engines won't take much overheating before something warps. Now if it was leaking coolant and it hit exhaust manifold which is certainly possible ??? it would smoke for sure. Not sure where Tstat on honda is in relation to Exhaust

        • After the front brakes, starter, thermostat, and battery have all been replaced this summer, my little Box of Trash on Wheels (2007 Honda Civic) is running fine.

              Funny- that story has to be really, really old, or that patent is. I saw that concept presented back at least a decade ago.

              So that art isn't very original to the present (2024), but the idea was at Ford anyway. It was part of some concepts presented at the Ford Research Center where I worked. I was pretty appalled by the idea, and told the person that it was one of the worst, distracting, idea that anyone could have come up with. I think they though I was kidding when I was dead serious.
