Not sure that's entirely accurate because iirc the Wild had the chance to use North Stars if they wanted.

I'm pretty sure they wanted to use the name, and were denied.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

According to Wikipedia, these were the six finalists: Blue Ox, Freeze, Northern Lights, Voyageurs, White Bears, and Wild.

If I had to rank it would be: 1. Voyageurs 2. White Bears 3. Northern Lights 4. Blue Ox 5. Wild 6. Freeze

        Ox surely would've been unique.

            If go...
            Wild
            Voyageurs
            White Bears
            Blue Ox
            Northern Lights
            Freeze

And really only Wild and Voyageurs seem palatable to me. I actually don't mind and kind of like Wild. I'd likely have ranked it lower at the time, but I think they've done a great job with the name, logo, colors, etc. my only isue is that stupid song, but teams having cool anthems (like Skol Vikings or Bear Down Chicago Bears) is rare.

When do we get our new name? Is it possible that we get it for Christmas? Imagine, Craig Leipold sitting with his family, opening a gift from Santa Bettman....it would be a lovely occasion and an excellent topic for the series finale of Becoming Wild.

The song is awesome. You take it back.

Love the bit when Gerby sings the Bears song on KFAN.

Pretty sure the opposite is true, but I wouldn't put money on it.

Never. The only thing more forced than that song is rape.

Pretty sure we all wanted them to use the name but I doubt they ever seriously considered it. Maybe because they knew the NHL wouldn't allow it.

I like the Blue Ox. Northern Lights I could handle too. I do think the Wild is pretty lame, but I like the logo, so at least they did well there.
